My GDS is 11-12 (rescue so not 100% sure). He is not doing the miles of walks anymore, jumping in/out of the Polaris, or really jumping into the truck any more. He has a custom built ramp. He has been on Adequan for about 18 months and doesn't seem to be helping. We use Rimadyl occasionally, but it knocks him out if we use more than 1/2 the normal dose. The Vet has recommended Librela.

Anyone have their big dog on this? Issues, reactions, results? Time to see any improvement?

Looks like this isn't available through PetMeds or Chewy so it may be a monthly trip to the vet. That isn't an issue, just easier to do it at home. And his "special Tech" that he adopted left and he isn't impressed with any of the replacements. He is very particular about what female (ONLY!) gives him shots....

And, yea, he is pretty spoiled.

"Librela (bedinvetmab) is a monoclonal antibody medication approved by the FDA for the treatment of pain associated with osteoarthritis (OA) in dog.
Librela works by blocking a specific protein called nerve growth factor (NGF), which plays a role in the development and maintenance of pain signals in OA. "

I give my Border Collie (I know, not really a big dog) Galliprant.
Daily pill I give him in the morning in a chunk of meat
It is scrip from the vet and requires blood work every 6? months to make sure it is not harming his liver.
His days of chasing cattle are behind him and I have to help him up in the Ranger and pickup due to weak back end.
He seems more comfortable and active, at times even has small spurts of playfulness.
Tried to take him off of it to see if it was helping and he was definately less active and groaned more when he layed down and struggled more to get up.
It's not really cheap at @$85 a month but a drop in the bucket to what he has given me for 14 years.

Sandhiller, thanks. Cost isn't the issue for him either. But I want him more comfortable. He is also showing weakness in his hind quarters. If this would help him I am OK with it.
I am just leery of side effects from new drugs. We have an appointment tomorrow for his 6mo senior physical and will discuss it more with the Vet.

I have seen no other side effects with Cash but all dogs are different
A bit of incontinence but I think that comes along with the weak back end/nerves, not the Galliprant
Had the same thing with my Weimeraner Gus a few years back as he got aged.
I wish you luck at the vet and hope you find something to help your big guy out.
He is a fine looking fella!
