The email issued mentioned earlier this week is now fixed! You may also have received previous emails that were meant to be sent over the last few days - apologies, this was a one time issue and shouldn't happen again!

Suppressors Form 4 wait time

My trust was was submitted 12/18 still waiting grrrrr
Yeah, one of my cans took over a year on a trust. It was submitted 11/2023 and I very recently got it this month. Had to get my congressman involved and then email the nics liaison after nothing happened. I did get the control number of the can in the FBI and passed that along to nics.

On my next cans I might just skip the trust as I never loan them out anyway. I’ve read they can be handed down via a Form 5 anyway after I die, trust or not. And in this instance, it’s a free transfer, but the recipient has to wait to clear a background check.

With a trust, the person on the trust gets the can immediately (also without paying a stamp fee).

Sorry. I figured it would take at least a few months with it being a trust. Even my form 1 can took me 11 months when I did that years ago so, I fully expected it to take a while. Maybe they have changed how they do it so they can get upin cans out of the way or something? Hopefully this nonsense will get done away with entirely and we can stop paying a tax on a muffler soon
There were a few changes.
Asa review of last year.

Supposedly there are multiple parts in the process. The ATF and NICS are separate groups and sometimes fall out of sync with one waiting on the other.

I haven't heard a decent explanation for times yet. I skipped the trust for individual, because it was faster, for all the good it did me.

Efile submitted on 1/14 on Silencerco Scythe
Mailed fingerprint cards on 1/15 priority mail
They received cards on 1/21
Got an email today on 1/28 approved.

This was for individual not trust.

Got the approval email today so about a 23 hour approval from time I put it in yesterday. Crazy!!!!
Has anyone determined what causes the HUGE approval time variations? One individual, 3 days(or less), someone else 6+ months, both approved.

Agents working from home, fapping instead of doing their job?

Why would emailing [email protected] accelerate the process?

I would love to see DOGE clean these turds up. Fire them, like the EPA, USAID, take their retirement and benefits. Useless pedos.. The world needs more ditch diggers and less pedo bureaucrats.

No idea at all. I was planning on waiting a while and was shocked to get the email. I went individual and had two cans prior but my last was probably 12-13 years ago. Not complaining though. lol

Has anyone submitted a paper form4 lately?
I bought a new can from an individual out of state and it requires a paper form4 from him to my FFL dealer….then I can eFile from his dealership to me.

I wouldn’t have done it if it wasn’t a rare suppressor.

Just wondering if y’all had any insight on the paper transfer timing.

My Dad submitted an Eform 4 on a traditional trust 12/13 and got the approval to pick up 12/18.

I submitted an Eform 4 on 1/25 on my trust, so here's hoping mine goes just as fast, seeing as we're the only person on the others trust.
Just got the approval on mine, 5 minutes ago.

I am watching my email like a hawk. I certified on a ultra 9 and a velos lbp 762 about 2-2.5 weeks ago and im hoping for a quick turnaround like others are getting. My last 2 cans were 7ish weeks from certified to approved but that was aug-sept of 2023.

AB A-10 30 cal, individual.
Submitted on 12/13/24
Approved on 2/5/25
Hard to wait almost 9 weeks when I've had 4 form 4s approved in 2-3 days last summer.
But, still, so much better than the 10 to 12 MONTHS of a year or so ago.

What did you get?

Got a B&T SRBS 7.62 inconel from Silencer Shop. They made it real easy to get the paperwork done as well as pic and fingerprints as there is a kiosk in a town close to me. Tossed it on my 6mm ARC for a size feel and look. Pretty happy with the overall feel and look. Ordered a Rifles Only HAD suppressor cover last night for it so will pop that on when it comes but hopefully making it to the range tomorrow.

did a paper form 1 in October last year I believe. It was roughly 27/28 days including time in the mail both ways, might vary some with a form 4 from and individual to a dealer though

Has anyone noticed a faster turn around time for someone who already owns a suppressor and has already gone through the form 4 process vs someone who’s buying their first suppressor?

I’m in the process of buying my first suppressor, will submit the form 4 tomorrow hopefully.

Yes. My first took ~110 days (middle of last year). This one took less than two.

B&T is coming out with some really cool stuff lately. If i was in the market for another .223/556 can, it would be one of the new hard use B&T cans.

Is it faster or slower when putting it in a trust?
It used to be slower but at this point it seems that all of the ones who were done last year are still being done in the same way and the ones done this year are being done faster, a ton faster. I've always waited at least 10 months on like 7 or 8 cans and this past one, I got the stamp like 2 weeks from certification, and that was with a Trust. Could just be luck of the draw or that I have a UPIN now though. Who knows. I only got the UPIN because I got denied on 2 for no reason and never did get an answer as to why but did finally get issued a UPIN after A LOT of garbage. It's a horrible agency and should be completely done away with.

Certified 2 on 1/14 and haven’t gotten anything yet. Certified another on 1/23 and same thing. I have two that I bought with silencer central that just now got to the point they can be certified. The closest appointment I could get is next Tuesday. I’m not sure I will be using silencer central again. I’m not a patient person and waiting on the atf is bad enough. That doesn’t need to be compounded by waiting a week on silencer central too.

I submitted efile on January 5th mailed finger prints January 8th received on January 13th. Nothing since!! They are still in my SOT 3 que! No movement no messages and when my SOT called Friday they told him no inquiry can be made for 90 days!! This is not my first NFA items as I have 9 others from previous.
