Found a local with a Nightforce ATACR 5-25X56 MOAR Reticle C445. Guy wants $1600 for it. I've never looked at one of these, any issues to be aware of? Was thinking about putting it on a new Vudoo for NRL/PRS.
Is the Nightforce warranty department good if something goes south?
Thanks!

There's no issues, it's just not ideal for NRL/PRS since it is in MOA and second focal plane.

For PRS competition you definitely do NOT want a second focal plane MOA scope. That's the reason the price is so low.

For MOA vs MIL, you'll find that almost everyone in PRS is using Mils and discussing wind/dope in Mils. Not a deal breaker, but certainly an annoyance if you shoot a lot of PRS.

More importantly, in PRS you'll want to be able to dynamically hold wind on targets. With a second focal plane scope that requires that the scope be set at the correct magnification (usually max power) in order for your reticle to read accurately. That means you can't touch your mag ring, and having to leave the scope at max magnification would make target acquisition tough. The MOAR reticle only has lines at 1 MOA intervals with no numbering, also not ideal for dynamic wind holds.

You mentioned a Vudoo, so I'm assuming this is for 22. You should also look at the minimum magnification spec for the scope. I don't think it focuses parallax any closer than 45 yards, also not ideal for 22.

With a signed NDA.

Not sure what you mean. I’ve had several fixed over the years. They put exactly what they did in the return receipt when they replace parts.

I have had a couple come back NTF, but they worked upon return so who knows. Was it a broken scope or was it a shift in a set of rings over the years? I’ll never know, and really don’t care as long as it works when I get it back.
