Child home alone in Kentucky shoots two armed intruders with a handgun. Both intruders fatally hit.

MANCHESTER, KENTUCKY. 02/15/2025

(Full details limited at this moment as case is still under investigation. Identity of the minor may also have been concealed to protect them.) Two armed men broke into a Manchester home with the intention of stealing more firearms when a juvenile who was home alone at the time saw them entering, retrieves a handgun and opened fire on the home invaders, fatally wounding both. The juvenile then fled the house through a bedroom window and presumably alerted a neighbor who called the police. Kentucky State Police detectives arrived on scene to find both would-be home invaders, 44 year old Roger D. Smith and 51 year old Jeffrey M. Allen, deceased on the property.

Some takeaways:

First of all, AWESOME shooting by this juvenile. They have been trained well and knew what they were doing and how to handle such a situation which would make many grown adults freeze in their tracks.

Second, if mandatory "Safe Firearms Storage" laws that are active in many Democrat cities had been in place here, the chances of this child not being able to retrieve his/her own gun and ending up being a casualty of the violent criminals is extremely high. Armed home invaders who are specifically after drugs, weapons, or drug money have a track record of being especially ruthless when confronted or spotted during their crimes.

Good for the kid to win the fight, but I hate that he will carry this with him now.

True, but this is far preferred over being injured or killed by these perps while helpless, terrified and unable to fight back at all, or held hostage by these thugs in an hours-long standoff with the SWAT team.

As long as he/she has a good, wholesome family and friends support network with them, they will accept the fact that they had been put into a harrowing situation that would have seen many adults fail, they took care of business and kept these two from reoffending, permanently. Just in the last month or so, Texas, Alabama and a couple of other states had put to death some absolutely putrid samples of human scum whom had been on Death Row for decades while exhausting their appeals processes. Their crimes involved break-ins, kidnappings, and children and were horrific through and through. This one here could have been another diabolical horror show if this hero kid had not done what they had done.

Reminds me of Ted Nugent's definition of gun control.

"Bang! One dead criminal! Bang! Two dead criminals! See gun control works."
(Gun control meaning controlling the gun in aiming at the proper target.)

I am sorry the kid had to go through this. I pray for his family and him to get through this, hopefully with a no-bill of indictment. Homicide justified by self-defense.

Start him a gofundme for him to see a therapist.
How many adults, yet alone a child, have what it takes to keep it together when there's a multi person break in going on and have the wherewithal to keep it together to find weapon and put bullets on target successfully? Kid might be mentally stronger than you think.
Remember, he was operating from a defensive situation which is way different than being an aggressor.

Kid is going to have serious street cred.....

I've shared the story at least a dozen times here, so I'll not do it again...but if I didn't have access to dad's home defense pistol when I was 12 and home alone...who knows?

I didn't have to shoot, the sight of a kid bursting through the interior garage door with a gun to meet him was apparently enough. More than likely the guy thought that nobody was home.

Either way, my kids will have the same opportunity to defend themselves as I did.
