I think you raise an interesting point but just curious if you're approaching it as a practicing Catholic, a 'recovering' Catholic, or an anti-Catholic? Makes no difference to me on which proverbial bucket you may fall into- just reckon I'd ask since that'd likely influence how I'd at least shape my response to your question is all.
Pending that clarification & also trying to remain neutral- yeah it's not looking too good for the Pope's health with pneumonia given his age & 1.5 lungs remaining. Reckon we'll find out and rather quickly on whether he bounces back from this latest illness.
As for me- I'm comfortable saying that I recognize that he is a controversial figure in the Catholic Church & also that many of their congregation are concerned about his prognosis (and likely many here may be aligned with that mindset)
Religious discussions usually don't fair well in the Pit and I'm not trying to promote nonsecular discussions here either. Just stating a fact that the Pope is controversial even amongst the practicing Catholics (western catholicism being amongst the more liberal iterations of the faith), his present prognosis isn't a good one for a man of his age or limited lung functions, and this is likely going to evolve into a more 'spicy' discussion one way or the other.
