@UKDslayer has a great point if they're using aminoglycoside antibiotics for a Gram-negative infection because they can damage the kidneys, but it also could be completely physiological due to hypoxia from the lung damage, since the medullary portion of the kidney has about the lowest oxygen levels in the entire body, and thus suffers first when O2 levels get low.
