Hornady released brass for 25 Creedmoor last year, and sponsored it. SAAMI officially approved it Jan 19, 2025. SAAMI specs are on this link here.

I hunt with my 25 SST, and the Berger 133s are devastating. This will be a sweet option for lots of people. I wonder how many factory rifles will get made.

They did a subtle release in their yearly package they send out to folks on their mailing list. Has a listing of all cartridges bullets, etc. they offer, and 25 Creedmoor was listed as a new loaded ammo option this year, although I haven’t seen any other releases on it

I've started working on a 6.5-284 shortened to creedmoor length. The cade on the right is 25° still needing to be fire formed. Middle is a 243. I'm building first round in a 6mm because I have so much 6mm stuff from my 6ppc but if it good I plan on a .25 variant next. As is it holds 57gr of water, about like a 243ai compared to about 50-51 from a 6creedoor

I started my .25CM Solus build back in 2023, but didn't get it finished until mid-2024, thanks to CarbonSix being a terrible company to buy barrels from. So I ended up cancelling that order and getting a Proof CF barrel spun up by Eric Anderson @ Blue Mountain Precision, and his turn-around was like 4 weeks on the dot. That barrel hammers with Berger 133's. From a 20" barrel I'm getting right over 2,800 FPS with Alpha SRP .25CM brass, CCI 400's, and StaBall 6.5 powder. Absolute hammer of a rifle.

FWIW here’s some discussion from the Hornady guys on 25 CM:

What bolt face for this round do you use, same as 308/6 dasher/etc.?

Id be curious to compare ballistics between 6 GT and 25 CM

Yes, you use standard .308/6.5CM (.478") bolt face.

With 133 Elites going 2,800+ FPS MV, it's going to stomp the 6GT down range. More bullet weight and mass will hold wind better, and retain more velocity and kinetic energy downrange.

The advertised BC on that 128gr ELD-X is .637, which is very high for the weight.
    134gr ELD-M is .645
    133gr Berger Hunter is .613
    135gr Berger Hybrid is .650
    6.5mm 130gr ELD-M is .554
    6.5mm 140gr ELD-M is .646
    6.5mm 130gr SMK is .584

With the newer 25cal A Tip it's really looking good for the 25cal.
    25cal 138gr A-Tip .695
    6.5mm 134gr A-Tip .637
    6.5mm 153gr A-Tip is .704

Very much looks like the 25cal has the 6.5mm beat across the board, with the round being sammi approved it should be easy to choose it over the 6.5CM (brass has been available for ages).
The 6mms still have it beat with regards to recoil, but I imagine the 25CM will start to replace the 6.5CM in PRS and the 25GT will become increasingly popular.

If Berger or Sierra manages to pull off a 25cal bullet in the 110-120gr range with a BC of .550-.600 I think 25cal could take over the entire PRS/NRL Hunter scene.

Thanks. Im gonna give 25 CM a hard look for my next barrel. Do you happen to remember how long your free bore is (150, 180, etc.)? I guess people get the longer FB if they plan on using longer high BC bullets?

It's a .291 Neck & .150 Freebore. Give Eric @ Blue Mountain Precision a call. He does amazing work. His freebore is his own custom designed reamer, and it's designed to use the Alpha Munitions .25CM brass, but his freebore and throat design was set by him. It's perfect for the Berger 133 Elites, and It's obviously pretty fast, and I've had nothing but precision since day 1. I highly recommend his work. He will probably be building all my barrels from now on.
