Already read the stuff Jeffrey Sachs keeps mentioning, about what Gorbachev was told, long ago.

Would’ve loved to have seen the full speech of what Gorbachev said - if anyone has a link.

Just heard some very interesting narratives from the online punditry relating to Ukraine somewhat…

1. Russia is so crippled by sanctions and impoverished to the point that it’s stripping chips from Chinese washing machines to sustain its military equipment

2. Russia must be stopped because it’s an overwhelming, unstoppable behemoth with expansionist ambitions that will eventually be marching through Paris

Which one should we believe? :ROFLMAO:

To answer that question you have to answer another. Which one provides for the most laundering, grifting and stealing of US tax dollars with zero congressional oversight?

i assume because the more capability ukraine has, the better their bargaining position would be.
i don't think trump is trying to screw ukraine.

That would be against this thread’s prevailing thought that

1. They’re toast
2. All sorts of fancy wunderwaffen makes no difference
3. They’re not in a position to bargain, better to cut their losses

Words and actions appear contradictory.

Whats not clear? Trump is Putin(g) out fire. YOU have lost a war and “peace agreement” is saving face up to a makeup allowance of Russian Federation. Your paid “leaders” of Europe are a distraction a smokescreen that kind of takes heat off the fact US strategy ( the Ttrymp was part of in his first term) has failed and spectacularly at that. Now is second term Trymp or Trump will be seen in few months. I kind of believe and hope he was naive in his first Try(mp) and this time around he will really make sure local parasites get offed and with that world will get a break. For US he spells wonders and puts bitches in EU in their place but still i’m on the fence whether this is true cleanup or just an aberration.

PS: One thing is clear you have chosen the best you could, EU never has. Even if Trump becomes Trymp 2.0 there is nothing decent people of US could do about it - legally.

everything i have read says there is no worthwhile amt in what is not held by Russia. Putin is in control of that part of Ukraine that has lg amts and he's sure not leaving.
Something I saw on forbes mentioned its only on new mines, not existing ones. It takes billions in investment just to start a “ new” mine and years before you’d see any profit.

Sounds like a hell of a gamble.

I too was under the impression most of the rare earth stuff was in the currently contested areas. As is the hydrocarbons.

Funny years ago my dad was very close to going to work in Ukraine for Royal Dutch Shell. Since the war Shell has pulled completely out of there.

sorta looks like Trump has Putin and Xi confused with US businessmen. doubt a deal except exactly what Putin wants. Trump may have gone too far out on a political limb with this one. wanting to end the war is very moral but this stage is different from biz in NYC despite how rotten and corrupt that is.

Personally, I think we’re overplaying this “businessman” and “making deals” thing too much, to the point of cheerleading.

He’s being manipulated
He’s being misled
It’s all a charade
It’s a chess move
It’s an opening gambit
He’s a businessman using negotiating tactics
Making outrageous plans publicly to force others for solutions
There’s a method to his madness
He’s “thinking outside the box”
It’s “control through chaos”
It’s Kissinger’s “Madman Strategy”
He’s being “stupid like a fox”
“Shock and awe”
It’s the art of the deal

[FLAME SUIT ON :ROFLMAO:]

There really hasn’t been any convincing evidence that our foreign policy has changed, and even John Mearsheimer appears to say so.

It really feels like everything’s just a cheap show, just theater to pander to our expectations.

Really hope I’m wrong…

Don’t forget Trump gave Ukraine weapons, when others would not, they tried to impeach him for the “deal”. Going back to his end this war in a day claim… there’s only two ways to end this war either capitulate something acceptable or go over there and kick ass ass.

I don’t think us claiming resources there it’s going to bode well with Russia.

End it in a day, my ass

Basically its more important who finishes war than whohad started it…
I have this strange feeling that Russia and China won’t allow to be duped again and that Western plans will not go as planned. I’m currently in a strange place where i see some of prime Western examples of “plebs” and i seriously wonder how the fuck societies in “developed” world function. We the serfs to the West will be seriously fucked this time around if we don’t get our act together…

Super surprised that he was allowed to make his points. He is 100% accurate and on point with the facts. Glad he was able to have his say publicly.

Most on Sniper’s Hide would likely throw him under the bus on account of the points below:

If I’m reading the room right, the prevailing sentiment here is anti - Ukraine conflict, but the exact opposite for China and Palestine.
