Already read the stuff Jeffrey Sachs keeps mentioning, about what Gorbachev was told, long ago.

Would’ve loved to have seen the full speech of what Gorbachev said - if anyone has a link.

Just heard some very interesting narratives from the online punditry relating to Ukraine somewhat…

1. Russia is so crippled by sanctions and impoverished to the point that it’s stripping chips from Chinese washing machines to sustain its military equipment

2. Russia must be stopped because it’s an overwhelming, unstoppable behemoth with expansionist ambitions that will eventually be marching through Paris

Which one should we believe? :ROFLMAO:

To answer that question you have to answer another. Which one provides for the most laundering, grifting and stealing of US tax dollars with zero congressional oversight?

And to echo two separate, recent episodes of Judge Napolito’s program (intentionally misspelled to highlight recent events), why is Trump still arming Ukraine?
i assume because the more capability ukraine has, the better their bargaining position would be.
i don't think trump is trying to screw ukraine.

That would be against this thread’s prevailing thought that

1. They’re toast
2. All sorts of fancy wunderwaffen makes no difference
3. They’re not in a position to bargain, better to cut their losses

Words and actions appear contradictory.

Whats not clear? Trump is Putin(g) out fire. YOU have lost a war and “peace agreement” is saving face up to a makeup allowance of Russian Federation. Your paid “leaders” of Europe are a distraction a smokescreen that kind of takes heat off the fact US strategy ( the Ttrymp was part of in his first term) has failed and spectacularly at that. Now is second term Trymp or Trump will be seen in few months. I kind of believe and hope he was naive in his first Try(mp) and this time around he will really make sure local parasites get offed and with that world will get a break. For US he spells wonders and puts bitches in EU in their place but still i’m on the fence whether this is true cleanup or just an aberration.

PS: One thing is clear you have chosen the best you could, EU never has. Even if Trump becomes Trymp 2.0 there is nothing decent people of US could do about it - legally.

Trump is throwing the little guy in the green shirt a few crumbs. To get some payback in rare earth minerals and perhaps keep the front from completely imploding and getting Russia to agree to some sort of peace agreement. It all makes perfect sense.

everything i have read says there is no worthwhile amt in what is not held by Russia. Putin is in control of that part of Ukraine that has lg amts and he's sure not leaving.
Something I saw on forbes mentioned its only on new mines, not existing ones. It takes billions in investment just to start a “ new” mine and years before you’d see any profit.

Sounds like a hell of a gamble.

I too was under the impression most of the rare earth stuff was in the currently contested areas. As is the hydrocarbons.

Funny years ago my dad was very close to going to work in Ukraine for Royal Dutch Shell. Since the war Shell has pulled completely out of there.

sorta looks like Trump has Putin and Xi confused with US businessmen. doubt a deal except exactly what Putin wants. Trump may have gone too far out on a political limb with this one. wanting to end the war is very moral but this stage is different from biz in NYC despite how rotten and corrupt that is.

Personally, I think we’re overplaying this “businessman” and “making deals” thing too much, to the point of cheerleading.

He’s being manipulated
He’s being misled
It’s all a charade
It’s a chess move
It’s an opening gambit
He’s a businessman using negotiating tactics
Making outrageous plans publicly to force others for solutions
There’s a method to his madness
He’s “thinking outside the box”
It’s “control through chaos”
It’s Kissinger’s “Madman Strategy”
He’s being “stupid like a fox”
“Shock and awe”
It’s the art of the deal

[FLAME SUIT ON :ROFLMAO:]

There really hasn’t been any convincing evidence that our foreign policy has changed, and even John Mearsheimer appears to say so.

It really feels like everything’s just a cheap show, just theater to pander to our expectations.

Really hope I’m wrong…

Don’t forget Trump gave Ukraine weapons, when others would not, they tried to impeach him for the “deal”. Going back to his end this war in a day claim… there’s only two ways to end this war either capitulate something acceptable or go over there and kick ass ass.

I don’t think us claiming resources there it’s going to bode well with Russia.

End it in a day, my ass

Basically its more important who finishes war than whohad started it…
I have this strange feeling that Russia and China won’t allow to be duped again and that Western plans will not go as planned. I’m currently in a strange place where i see some of prime Western examples of “plebs” and i seriously wonder how the fuck societies in “developed” world function. We the serfs to the West will be seriously fucked this time around if we don’t get our act together…

Super surprised that he was allowed to make his points. He is 100% accurate and on point with the facts. Glad he was able to have his say publicly.

Most on Sniper’s Hide would likely throw him under the bus on account of the points below:

If I’m reading the room right, the prevailing sentiment here is anti - Ukraine conflict, but the exact opposite for China and Palestine.

Kinda like:

“Left” = Russia, Russia, Russia, China, China, China, Palestine, Palestine, Palestine
“Right” = China, China, China, Palestine, Palestine, Palestine

The latter probably on account of Russia being “white, conservative, and Christian” or so I hear on Saturday Morning Punditoons.

Maybe I’ll make a meme later with Putin and Xi laughing over how we think we can make Russia our friend and have them join us in the great “pivot to Asia.”
The time to take Russia off the field as an adversary in the inevitable conflict with the CHICOMs came and went during DJT’s 1st administration. The leftist CHICOM controlled media made sure of that.

You can *believe* anything you like. Russia invaded a sovereign country, that is a fact. If you *believe* they were justified, Vlad appreciates your support.

Can you give me one good, solid reason why I should give a flying fuck about Russia, Crimea or Ukraine?

I've tried to come up with a reason and I can't.

I've done the same with fighting Muslim countries.

I've done the same with African tribal wars.

Still can't find a reason to give a fuck.

Playing piano with a dick does not qualify one as an leader or diplomat. As i repeat to the point of being obnoxious hate runs deep with certain part of eastern slavs. Uncle Tom variety. Mr. Z was coming to a bbq where star of the evening was well z-bone and if he was more than a dick player he would have known that beforehand and either skipped dinner or prepared beforehand. He did neither…to his own detriment.

Why you should care? Because “inyour name” there is a lot of things done in this world that aint good and maybe just maybe you or your kids might have to pay the bill. I get your point but world is a fucking global playground now no more “isolated”from others and see no evil do no evil. Poor illustration of it but xiaomi just presented their new 2.0 to 100kmh vehicle at a price od 70k€. Now try to compete with that on a fair level… Simply will not happen…

🚨President Trump, Vance and Zelenskyy spar over Russian war in TENSE SHOUTING MATCH at White House. Zelensky gets put in his place!

🚨VANCE TO ZELENSKY: YOU’RE DISRESPECTFUL FOR ATTACKING THIS ADMINISTRATION

🔥Trump to Zelensky: “Don’t tell us what we’re gonna feel. We’re trying to solve the problem…you’re in no position to dictate that.”

🚨🚨Full exchange🚨🚨

👉JD Vance: I'm talking about the kind of diplomacy that's going to end the destruction of your country.

Zelensky: Yes, but if you----

👉JD Vance: Mr. President, with respect, I think it's disrespectful for you to come into the Oval Office and try to litigate this in front of the American media. Right now, you guys are going around and forcing conscripts to the front lines because you have manpower problems. You should be thanking the President for trying to bring an end to this conflict.

Zelensky: Have you ever been to Ukraine to see what problems we have?

👉JD Vance: I have actually watched and seen the stories, and I know what happens. You bring people on a propaganda tour, Mr. President. Do you disagree that you've had problems bringing people into your military? And do you think that it's respectful to come to the Oval Office of the United States of America and attack the administration that is trying to prevent the destruction of your country?

Zelensky: A lot of questions. Let's start from the beginning. First of all, during the war, everybody has problems. Even you, but you have a nice ocean and don't feel it now. But you will feel it in the future. God bless---

👉Trump: You don't know that and don't tell us what we're going to feel. We're trying to solve a problem. Don't tell us what we're going to feel.

Zelensky: I'm not telling you. I'm not in a position to dictate that. Remember this---

👉Trump: You're in no position to dictate what we're going to feel. We're going to feel very good.

Zelensky: You will feel influence.

👉Trump: You're right now not in a very good position. You've allowed yourself to be in a very bad beginning, and it's happening to be right about now.

Zelensky: From the very beginning of the war---

👉Trump: You're not in a good position. You don't have the cards right now. With us, you start having the cards.

Zelensky: I have the cards.

👉Trump: Right now, you're not. You're playing cards. You're gambling with the lives of millions of people. You're gambling with World War III. You're gambling with World War III. And what you're doing is very disrespectful to the country --- this country, that's back to you far more than a lot of people said they should have.

👉JD Vance: Have you said "thank you" once?

Zelensky: A lot of times.

👉JD Vance: No, in this entire meeting. You said "thank you" once? You went to Pennsylvania and campaigned for the opposition in October. Offer some words of appreciation to the United States of America and the President who's trying to save your country.

We could actually stop the "inevitable conflict with China" if we wanted to.
We'd just need some actual guts to make facts on the ground permanent and stop pandering to greedy corporations.
We'd also need to purge our own ranks of all the CCP controlled, funded, bribed and influenced entities that shape policy in this country.
We'd need to have reasonable and fair hard boundaries and lines that are fair to both sides and be willing to stick to them with a big stick if needed.
We'd also need to stop putting special interests and the profits of our corporations first.
