not really, have several 450 and 550 that the frame breaks behind the cab and Dodges same weight class break the frame behind front wheels
That’s not the insurance / gov crumple zone bs is it ?

Funny you mention 450 550 and dog dodge and ford. Chevy isn’t even a consideration for those sizes for anyone that uses the truck

The crush/crumple zones are not insurance mandated, the government mandates safety standards. They are designed to manage the energy of a collision to keep it out of the passenger compartment. There would be no reason to have a crush zone behind the cab or behind the front suspension.

All of the frame failures I have looked at were on trucks with 5th wheel hitches, huge campers, or trucks with big lift kits. All of the frames on all of the trucks were designed by some pencil necked geek that drives a Prius. They are designed to meet minimum strength requirements while being as light as possible.

There is virtually no difference between American trucks. They are all garbage and all have the same issues. It's too bad Toyota doesn't make big trucks. Toyota is the best truck on the road right now. Toyota trucks have around 60% American made parts in them, while Ford only has 30% of the parts made in America.

GM frames tend to buckle right behind the front suspension crossmember.

The Dodge frames are failing where the front leaf spring hanger mounts and at the rear cab mounts.

The Ford frame is the worst on the road right now.
