So I recently built a kinda sporterized K31 target rifle (don’t worry, i bought all parts separately, so no K31 where hurt). Last saturday I got to test it and shot a 0.5 MOA group at 300m. Now i kinda want to put a scope on it. The scope should be from the 30s to 60, maximum 1 inch in diameter, shouldn’t have an objective bell and a minimum of 3.5x magnification. I want to mount it with a custom mount to the 11mm rail (where the diopter is mounted now) on the left side of the receiver. Any recommendations?

To me it would seem correct with something that has a short scope body and a post reticle for the euro feel.

Not familiar with these rifles save for admiring their workmanship and seeing a few posts in here about them.

There was a very knowledgeable gentleman on here that seemed to have a store selling accessories for the K31.

Do a search in the vintage section you may get some ideas.

Also, see if accumounts is still making swept back ZF4 mounts for K98s. Not sure the dovetail profile but I'm sure some adaptation of that could work, too.

the mount isn’t really the problem, i have a CAD program and a friend with a CNC, so i could fit pretty much every scope. For example here with a soviet PU scope.

Beside the barrel-maker-question - and also the technical details - for example twist-rate ? of this very special long barrel - What exactly are you trying to achieve ? It is always to recommend to know very early concretely what one is "aiming at". Several had already started with an idea for any remodeling/renovation and unfortunately couldn't finish it because they ... . An handful of different K31-conversions exist.

A scope with only 3.5x or 4x magnification, small tube diameter and a contemporary post reticle for example Absehen 1/Reticle 1 too, would allow hardly this unusually - but great looking :) - barrel to fully demonstrate its precision potential.

A scope with 6x magnification and an 42 mm-tube and a fine reticle as Absehen 6/Crosshair or 4 would be clearly better for maximum accuracy. Riflescopes with such a magnification are known from the time-period you mentioned in your first post.
