A bunch of Nazi terrorists doing nazi terrorist stuff.
While I don't always agree with his overly "glory to the uniforms" ideas, Heinlein had an interesting and workable solution to this very problem in one of his short stories, with a few modifications.
The politicians and leaders were forbidden to start wars or start military actions or send troops out of the country for any reason.
There was only a small permanent army to guard against sudden invasions.
Anytime the government wanted to send troops anywhere or do anything militarily anywhere, it had to be put to an immediate popular vote and everybody men and women had to vote.
If the public vote went in favour of the military action / war it was carried out like this:
If you voted Yes in the vote, then your military reporting station was already listed on your ballot receipt and you had to go head over to the reporting station to go fight in the war.
If you voted abstain, then you were next in line if all the folks who voted yes were killed.
If you voted No, then you were 3rd in line after the other 2 groups were wiped out.
If you weren't able to be physically able to be called up to go to war, then you didn't get a vote.
Seems pretty simple.

I think "they" are trying to pry Ukraine from Russian dominance. That is the motivation, in my humble opinion. They are desperate and will do anything they can to achieve that result.

The history of the Ukranians and the Nazis is a bit more murky than is put out by propaganda nowdays.

As of this morning, it appears some EU members are stepping back from their earlier comments/commitments they made concerning putting their own "peace keeping" troops on the ground in Ukraine.
blood for money. don't get confused about the goal of this war. it isn't freedom or anything noble like that.
Slowly, there are more adults in the EU room starting to be more vocal on their national and world stages. Viktor Orban and Giorgia-Meloni seem to be the first ones not afraid to buck the insanity.
