2 ways:Hell, I’ve read the entire manual multiple times and barely know how to set the wind for a single target!!
Each target has to be manual, which sucks if you are using these as a stand alone solver. The binos by themselves only calculate wind relative to DOF.I’ve read the entire user manual (all 100+ pages). I need some help. Can some one tell me the process for wind capture when ranging multiple targets (say on a stage) that has a wide left to right pan. If target (A) has a 3-5 mph coming from 12:00 and all the way over to target (E) it’s coming from 4:00. Do the Vectors go off target A and calculate as the azimuth changes as you work your way to target E? Or is this all gonna have to be manually inputted?
Agreed. Chicken Dance could have been explained.Thanks. I was being a tad facetious, due to the manual being pretty hot and miss on detailed instructions. I know how to do it, but it did take me several times to get the knack of it.
They seriously need to correct this. Hopefully it's just a firmware update. Can't see why not. Every single AB device has this feature, Garmin took quite a while to get it right on the 901, but it's finally there.I asked this same exact question to Philip (at Vectronix)...
You MUST input wind with each corresponding target. The ONLY way to do this is through the app since you cannot input individual wind values for Target A, B, C, etc during capture.
This is a HUGE oversight since inputting wind to a large array of targets with varying DOF and wind would take far too long.
(I suggested to them that they change this through a firmware upgrade to a process similar to Kestrel: input all targets. Capture wind ONCE from XYZ bearing and have it apply to all targets in the TARGET CARD.)
I appreciate the info. That’s a kick in the nuts as I was hoping I could use these during matches instead of my PLRF05, Kestrel, and separate binos. Maybe they will fix it in the future. I guess for now, the Vectors will be used for hunting only.I asked this same exact question to Philip (at Vectronix)...

Nothing in this expensive shooting hobby is simple. Unfortunately.I knew it was too simple to just use the true wind direction off Target A and then have it calculate/change as the azimuth changed from Target A to Target E.
It's been a while since I read their patent, but I believe it was about pointing the binos into the wind direction and clicking one button to capture wind direction. Kestrel did that first, but if the patent only pertains to binos/optics you should still have a workaround by manually entering the wind azimuth. It would be easy to do with the vectors since it gives a live azimuth.I thought I read somewhere when vortex did the Fury ab binos, they used a wind capture with thr bino compass that then vectored the target azimuth VS the winds known azimuth? This process was patented, I'd read or heard by vortex. Maybe this is why sig, Leica, nor vectronix have used the simple method.
It's really hard to beat the vectors and the 901 combo for a target card in a NRL style match. The connection is solid and you'll have the card on your wrist.I wanted to eliminate the Kestrel/Garmin 901 for the Snake River match next week. But it looks like that won't happen since I still need to use them to build a target card.
My replacement set came in today. Second defective unit. This one the left button on the keypad is inoperable. Works about 1 out of every 20 presses. Focus knob still has a ton of play before engaging, maybe more than the first unit. Auto brightness doesn't flicker though. I am either unlucky or these things have lots of issues. At a loss really for something in this price point.

And it's not only multiple target engagements. I'd like to have a wind direction and speed dialed in (say in a hunting situation) when a target of opertunity shows up, hit the range and get the wind call instantly.
There is a non ARD version for $200. Everything to do with these things is expensive as hell. I love them, but damn are they spendy. It’s prolly like anything else, it was probably left this way intentionally, why come out with the best way right out the gate, they will come up with a firmware update in a bit and then sell it and market it…. No different than any other industry, like trucks, remember when they came out with the “3rd door” you know damn well some new guy in a meeting was like why wouldn’t we just put a 4th door on right away cause that’s where this is headed, and then all the people in the meeting laughed at how stupid he was…
Got to use mine more at a train up day yesterday, really like em, was zapping a 1788 IPSC with no issues everytime, but does anyone else think the lense caps are shit?? Ordered the FOUR. HUNDRED. F’N. DOLLAR lense caps this morning.. that’s annoying
With the amount of useless shit that people 3D print these days and sell, surely someone can make a version of these for $20.There is a non ARD version for $200. Everything to do with these things is expensive as hell. I love them, but damn are they spendy.
Non-ARD lens caps Tenebraex is just as proud of their name as Vectronix.![]()
Glad to hear you finally got a nice pair. maybe the first replacement was a return they accidentally sent out.
Got the next replacement 10x42's today. This should have been the first set. Focus knob, buttons, HUD all good. Slight touch of focus knob play but 100% different and better than the first two.
How did it happen ?Happened at a match. Really bummed about it since i was planning on using the range extenders
My guess is they were on a tripod and fell over/got blown over and hit the ground. How did it happen ?
So I use an AG tripod caddy. And my tripod actually didn’t have any issues staying planted on the ground in the wind despite that- I’m gonna attribute it to my heavy-fill shmedium keeping it from lift off.Damn! I usually place a heavy weight of some sort in my tripod sling in hopes of keeping it held down on high wind days. We've had the windiest spring in recent memory and it has been a concern for myself as well during recent range sessions.

I place my binos on a flatline ops scum bag that sits on a Rhytec pro plate. I was good about putting them onto the mesh net or in one of the zips whenever I stepped away from the tripod.
I thought I was being smart not clipping in to avoid the bino and tripod smashing down together.Yea I have a light fill bag I use on a tacplate for when they aren't clipped in and that light bag gives me concern for similar reasons. I really need to get a flat heavy fill rear bag for that use and keep the light fill bag in my hunting pack. I've been clipping the binos in lately with the Area419 Arca plate. .
I asked. I’m hoping they do a one time courtesy kind of deal.Ouch... is that covered under their warranty? Not that I would reasonably expect it to be, but just curious
Ordered! Thanks for the idea. There is a tool for repairing camera lens dents and threads. I think they call it a lens dent repair vise. I have seen them on Amazon.
Based on how I have used laser rangefinders in conjunction with BaseMap before, I believe you would be placing the point while in the BaseMap app and not from within the VECSS app. With the premium versions of BaseMap, there is a remote marker option under the tools section that what you would open to place a remote point within the BaseMap app. I expect this is similar to how things work with OnX, though I have not used it. Google maps is integrated into the VECSS application so you can actually place a point using Google maps without ever leaving the VECSS app as it is essentially using Google maps as a plugin. I don't belive this sort of functionality is present with the other mapping applications.Does anyone know how to change the mapping from Google Maps to OnX or BaseMap?
