Been out of the loop for abit and have been searching for a new scope. I’ve looked through some previous threads but haven’t found anything conclusive.

Right now, it’ll go on a 300WM. Primary usage is just target shooting and hunting.
-I want FFP, locking or capped windage, great eye box and would prefer decent FOV. Illumination preferred but not necesary.
- Good CA control, low light performance a plus.
-34mm main tube preffered.
-Warranty center being in the US is a must. I don’t want to have to send scopes back overseas if there as an issue.

Right now an XTR Pro or a 3-18x T6XI are at the front of my list. With an Uncle Sugar discount, they’re near the same price and in my budget.

I have had an XRS3 and I do not want the DMR.

A Cronus would be the easy button but no capped or locking windage.

I was looking at the Zeiss S3 4.5-20 but I saw frequent reports the eyebox was tight.

Is there anything else I haven’t come across in the $1800 range that should be a contender to the Burris and Steiner?

Trust me, I am an amateur but it really depends on the job. What kind of target shooting? Static position and LR to ELR?

Hunting - where and what kind? In the south and southeast, you don't need more than 4-16 mag and plenty is the time where shots are only 50 yards and a light-weight SFP will do just fine.

LR to ELR. I have BLM land not to far from me and can shoot as far as I want to put the work into.

I’m out west. Nothing bigger than deer and black bear. I’ve been using 4-16x ATACR’s just fine on everything else since they came out and haven’t deviated from those on my smaller guns. I take a 6.5 creedmoor most often but every once in awhile I’d take my 300wm out.

I’m moving from a 3-20x PMII. I just haven’t shot enough over the years and have been downsizing. I’m just looking for something to hold me over until that time comes again I can get out and shoot more.

I'm a big fan of my xtr pro it holds up well against more expensive glass. It's no March or TT but it doesn't cost like them either. I've compared them at up to 3000 yds for clarity and focus and was surprised by the pro not being to far off of the more expensive options.

The XTR pro does seem pretty feature rich for the price. I’m leaning more towards the Steiner but I keep coming back to looking at the pro.

The XTR Pro is definitely going to need that illumination for first/last light hunting. It is a target/PRS scope, and that crosshair gets pretty thin the closer you get to minimum magnification.

I have one and like it well enough. Wouldn't be my first choice to take out hunting though.

Not sure who told you the Zeiss S3 4-25 had a tight eye box but mine didn’t. Was very easy to get behind and for your uses would be my choice of the three you mentioned. The reticle is much better than the Burris or Steiner, same SCR-2s, as it’s darker and the center illumination would work great on the lower power for hunting. Also it has a ton more elevation for ELR.

It wouldn’t be my first choice to take hunting either. Just want it to be workable if I do.

I was scouring feedback on existing threads and some feedback was that it was tight and others was that it was useable. I actually prefer the MSR2 on the Steiner but good to know about the Zeiss.

Well eye box is not an issue with the Zeiss. It’s easy to get behind. Used three of them, two 6-36 and a 4-25, on match rifles and never and issue getting behind them on props and odd positions. I definitely would take a harder look at it just due to the reticle.

Whenever you are ready to buy, check out this thread. List of optics related companies and which SH Commercial Supporters carry them.

Thanks, I’ve done business with a number of hide vendors in the past, just haven’t stayed “current” on what’s out there since I’ve pretty much stuck to the same optics for years.
