Powder IN-STOCK thread

Got my American "Similar to H4895 today".... its definitely not identical to H4895, so I assume it "burns like" H4895.. we will see when I get a chance to test it...

Here a picture i just took to compare them.. actual H4895 on the left, MP455 (Similar to H4895) on right.

They are completely different colors.. H4895 is a light tan....MP455 is a dark graphite grey..

H4895 has very consistent kernel shape and size... MP455 has inconsistent kernel shape and size...

We will see how it shoots and compares.

I know a guy who is friends with the guy who owns AR. He says sometimes they mix surplus powder and pressure test it until they get the burn rate they want. So some is direct clone and some is their own mix of surplus powder.

Yep...I have some rifle powders from them that are clearly two different powders mixed... thats annoying....

I have a hard time believing AR would mix powders. There are recent posts where new and old lots of Varget look different.

It could also be something like RG4895. I had quite a bit of that back when Wideners would sell 8 pounders for $109. It shot really well.

I have very old 15-20yr, 5yr old and brand new varget a month old. They all look exactly the same...

American what?
American Reloading. Almost every comment on the last few pages mentions it or has a link to it.

They only carry Midwest powders. Look a bit closer at the description on each powder and it will give you a “similar to xxx powder.”
This has been thoroughly discussed, and 99% of the time they are very similar to whatever powder they say it is.
You also quoted a post that’s over a month old, so those particular powders are currently out of stock.

Midway had GM215M available for less than 5 mins. I got the email, logged on, and they were gone. :(
good news is, they appear to be coming in stock more frequent or Midway just sends the emails out to crush our hopes and dreams.
Gotta be fast

I saw the email and figured I'd stock up 215m's and was able to submit an order before they went OOS.
