Re: New Elcan Specter OS4X

At this time they do not have a 308 model yet. If they feel this unit will become very popular then they will make a 308 unit.

Hello, Is there a 308 reticle for the OS 4x yet? Raytheon on line literature says there is, but haven't seen one for sale or even a picture of the reticle. I'd be interested.

Some are still a little internet illiterate. Any normal person would of just called them considering it list their number. lol

Yes, I wasted time calling Raytheon and did not get an answer. This is the correct thread to post, old or not. The internet - home of the illiterate - was a last resort. ;) ;), LOL! #$&* you!

You mean you didn't call CS Tactical? The company you specifically asked? Why bump an ancient post and pray they respond quickly, or even respond at all, when you could of called them and got an answer right away? Thanks for reinforcing that some don't quite have critical thinking skills.

I have only seen 5.56 versions of this sight. That having been said, I own one of these and depending on the distance, it works quite well with 7.62x51.

Thanks, Ilya. That's good. I'd like something smaller than the USO SR6 - nice glass, but bulky. Which of the two reticles are you using and how does it do at 300 and 600? I'd be shooting SMK 168's from a 16" bbl.

I have the crosshair version and out to 600 yards, it would not be terribly difficult to adapt. How fast is your 168gr load moving out of that 16" barrel?

A while back, I put together into a table a few sample ballistic curves using JBM. This does not have your exact load, but it is not hard to add if you give me the velocity and sight height.

The drop is in mrad and if you are shooting steel, it is easy to compensate for the differences with slightly offset sight in. All rifles shoot a little differently, so you always have to check in the field and adjust as necessary. Once you get to 800, the differences are more significant, but out to 600, this is pretty straightforward.

Internet is the place to post such a question, in a new or old thread. So far, no vendor has responded having one even though manufacturer's literature says it exists. At least you're tickling the thread for web crawlers. Anyway, you have no information.

Has anyone actually handled the fixed sight 4x version?

Are you talking about the 7.62 version? I have not seen any manufacturer's literature that suggests such a thing exists. If you are talking about a 5.56 version, then, as I said, I have one sitting on my rifle right now. It is my favourite AR sight. I used it in a couple of comparisons and it acquitted itself quite nicely. That's the scope in my profile picture.
