Halibut chowder recipe needed

I have a book.
published in Homer

Just for the Halibut.

i dont think it is in print anymore.
Will send copies.

halibut picatta (use the cheeks!!)
And blackened halibut are a couple amazing ones…..

Fish tacos.

Fried or grilled a little fajita seasoning. The usual accoutrements no cheese don't forget cilantro.

Soft flower or crunchy corn tortillas both work.

About any white fish works we even use frozen breaded shrimp and good quality fish sticks. Just remember to add the fajita seasonings.

Fried and used in a Louisiana poor boy sandwich.

Ceviche

Don't be bored.

Do you like cioppino? If so cut some of the fillets into like thumb size chunks and get some good shrimp and some mussels or small clams.
First sauté some green pepper, garlic and onion in some good olive oil. Add a big can of diced tomatoes and and maybe some tomato sauce, some red wine some oregano, Italian seasoning blend, and a bay leaf and maybe a half can of beer. Add seafood and cover on low heat for a few minutes ( until clams or mussels open).
Serve with a crusty sourdough.
Open a good bottle of chianti and mangiare.

Prince William Sound? caught a crap-ton there.

Posted ^^ My two favorites so far are grilled using olive oil and steak seasoning and baked halibut with lemons and crusted Parmesan
+1

My brother lives in Anchor Point and the launch is only about a mile from his house plus it saves us about 20 miles on the water versus using the spit in Homer. Here’s a pic of his rig.

Ah, clam chowder recipe but use Halibut?

Or try this....it says Cod but I have used both Cod and Halibut and they both work equally.

Easy Mediterranean cod with fennel, kale and black olives, a healthy complete meal
prepared in one pan and ready in 30 minutes!

Ingredients
2 tbsp olive oil
1 small onion sliced
2 cups sliced fennel
3 large cloves garlic chopped
1 14.5 ounce can diced tomato
1 cup diced fresh tomatoes
2 cups shredded kale
1/2 cup water
pinch of crushed red pepper
2 tsp fresh oregano or 1/2 tsp dried oregano
1 cup oil cured black olives
1 lb. cod cut into 4 portions
1/8 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp fennel seeds optional
1 tsp orange zest
fresh oregano fennel fronds, orange zest, olive oil

Instructions

1, In a large skillet (ideally with high sides) over medium heat, cook onion, fennel, and garlic in olive oil for 8 minutes,
season with salt and pepper (about 1/4 tsp of each). Add canned diced tomato, fresh tomato, kale, and water. Stir
well and cook for 12 minutes. Add crushed red pepper, fresh oregano, and olives.

2. Prepare fish, season with salt, pepper, orange zest and fennel seeds (optional). Nestle fish into kale tomato stewing
mixture. Cover pan and cook for 10 minutes.

3. Remove from heat, and finish with fennel fronds, more fresh oregano, more orange zest, and a drizzle of olive oil on
top.

4. Serve over rice immediately.

Poached in Saffron broth. Google "fish in saffron broth" and a plethora of recipes come up. A very Spanish (not Mexican) way to prepare fish. I like it with some Spanish (hard) chorizo (again, not Mexican chorizo) added; it gives the dish a nice smokey paprika flavor. Add some sliced golden potatoes and you've got a nice fish stew, that begs to be served with some crusty baguette or other bread.

Damn. Now I'm hungry.

So miscommunication and the wife brings home pork butt instead of pot roast. Was going to do carne guisada. (Sp?)

So hatch chillies poblano peppers and cilantro, garlic cloves, I got this.
Rough hack some chillies pepers onions and cilantro stems. Place under and over rinsed and fajita spiced pork butt.

Fire it up. Round one.

Not bad at all, wouldn’t be my first choice but it was a pretty good meal. I think I’ll do the blackened halibut.
Halibut is so good you don't need to do much to it, right? Great meaty fish.

I like to take a bit of jelly/preserves and cut it with a bit of white vinegar (1:1) and it makes a great fruit glaze. Bake/broil the fish and then glaze and serve. Easy peasy but tastes wonderful.

When I lived in Seattle I use to order some New England clam chowder and a few pieces of fried Halibut from a place called Little Chinooks next to the fish market I worked at. I would then take the fried Halibut and mash it into the chowder along with crackers. Not exactly Halibut chowder but it was pretty damn good. (I would get some funny Looks)

Enjoy that good white fish @drglock

and be ready.

You make that blackened halibut with some good asparagus, a rice pilaf, and nice desert, paired with a nice Sauv Blanc and be ready.
Ladies like that business.
Gal I know told me I make that again, she will bring me a home baked apple pie for my trouble.
You have been warned!

;)

Me and my dad came home with 133lbs in fillets so a variety of recipes is needed .
I hate you.......
It used to be here in socal you could catch a decent amount of fish, now they have put in place some serious catch limits to where its damn near not worth going out.

I brought about 80lb home this year and still had 50 lb left from last year. We eat a ton of halibut too. Favorite recipe is this: cut halibut into 1" chunks. Roll in flour, then beat egg, then panko. Put an inch or so of oil into a cast iron pan and get the halibut to a light brown then flip, do the same, and remove. Serve with lemon ponzu sauce for dipping!

Round two.

Remove all old used up vegetables meat and broth.

Dice new vegtables small and add tomatoes hatch geen chili enchilada sauce and the reserved liquid less fat separated out.

And don't use a knife covered in chillies to cut your finger.
