Out west, but not too far west
I can't find any load data for Hodgdon Superperformance in a 25-06. Looked at the 25 WSSM data, but that seems a little low, and the case quite a bit smaller.

Looking at burn rate, this looks a lot like H4831. How interchangeable it it?

I have 85 BT and 100 TSX to load in my Tikka 25-06.

Ideas?

That’s curious because

I pulled my Hornady book and can’t find any range of projectiles where they use Superformance for 25-06. I’m not a burn rate vs projo ratio expert but I would guess something here doesn’t work well.

Th .25-06 is a magnum class round in everything but name. Having loaded for the round since the Speer #7 manual was current. (Don’t Go There, the rifle used in the #7 manual had a ton of freebore and their loadings are Very Hot!). Being a disciple of mild to mid range loads, i got away with that data.

I have found that IMR 4350 works but is a touch fast. For years 4831 was the goto. The old Norma 205 had good velocity but problems with that powder caused Norma to pull it decades ago. (Not related to current Norma powders)

Currently I am having very good velocity and accuracy with IMR7977 shooting bullets in the 115 to 120 grain class. I am a fan of Superformance. Considering where it fits on the burn rate charts, its lack of usefulness in the big 25 is something of a mystery. Could be it is very dense and leaves lots of space. Anyway, Works great in the 6.5 Creedmoor, but jsut does not seem to be a good fit for the .25-06.

I shoot a 6.5-06 AI which has the same relative capacity ratio as the 25-06. H4831SC has performed well, 7828SSC is what I’d use of the powders you’ve listed. For absolute top performance with the heavies you need double based slow stuff- RL 25, 26, 33- Ramshot magnum, N570, etc.

My favorite deer rifle is a 25-06, a 15 year old stock Rem 700. However I almost sold this rifle because it wouldn’t shoot 110-117 grain factory ammo worth a shit. Groups looked like 9 pellet buckshot.

I stumbled on a deer hunting forum post where someone had the same issue and found their rifle shot well with 100gr Sierra GameKing and IMR 4831.

I tried that combination and with a load of 51.5gr, I have (barely) sub 1in groups at 100 yards and a touch over 1in at 200.
