    O.K., first off I buy a Remington ADL stock without asking if the checkering was pressed or cut. I was wanting pressed so I could steam/sand for a smooth stock. As my luck would have it, it is an early stock with very nice CUT checkering. I know I would never get it to look right if I tried...

    Re: 700 ADL Stock Mods Thanks. Are all factory ADL stocked pressed checkering or do you know if some are cut? I've seen some advertised as cut checkering, but for my project I would rather have pressed for the reasons mentioned above.

    If I sand the checkering off of an ADL stock to make it more like the M40, would it remove to much wood? I don't want it to be abnormally thin when I'm finished. I'm not sure how deep the factory cheering typically is. Thanks.
