    Anyone running a 6-6.8spc?

I had 6mm DTI which is a necked down 6.8 case with the shoulders blown out to 30 degrees. Bout the heaviest thing it would run and still be mag length was the 87 grain vmax. It would run around 3000 fps and was shear hell on prairie dogs.

    AR recoil reduction

I have no problem with the recoil the rifle is already fairly heavy, I mainly shoot it prone and it performs outstanding 5 round groups in the low .3's high .2's are not uncommon for it. I was mainly asking out if curiosity.

    AR recoil reduction

Just curious what some ways are to reduce the recoil pulse on an AR with the buffer and bolt carrier, I'm not interested in brakes. My precision 223 AR currently has a rifle length gas system, JP low mass carrier, adjustable gas block, and silent capture spring. It is softer shooting than any of...

    Accurizing Mini-14

Yea I have one that's on a good day will hold 3 moa at best. Out if curiosity what makes them so inaccurate, they are basically a scaled down M1A which can be very accurate. I had a custom 18 inch M1A crazy horse built by Smith Enterprise and it was a consistent .5 moa shooter.

Anyone work up a load with 80gr ELD-m in 223 yet?

I have the same problem with cratering primers but it craters mild loads to so I don't pay that much attention. I didn't want to start piercing primers is why I stop when I did I had no other pressure signs

Anyone work up a load with 80gr ELD-m in 223 yet?

If your not getting any pressure signs then I'd say no but that's just my opinion. I always let the particular rifle tell me when I'm at max. Seating long like that allows for more powder vs book max. Like I said that's just my opinion and how I do things.

Anyone work up a load with 80gr ELD-m in 223 yet?

I'd like to get move velocity out of them as well but didn't won't to push them any harder with the cratering primers. These 223 rpr's are notorious for primer cratering and I plan on getting the firing pin bushed soon, at that point I'll push it a little harder because it looked like it started...

Anyone work up a load with 80gr ELD-m in 223 yet?

I know this thread is a couple months old, but I have had excellent results with the 80 gr eld's and XBR 8208. I stumbled on these looking for some 75 gr eld's but my local supplier was out so I figured I'd play with them. Out of my ruger precision 223 I get 2787 fps, with accuracy usually in...

    Applied Ballistic Link App Crashes

I keep Bluetooth on at all times on my phone, it connects to the kestrel fine and will send and receive rifle profiles with no trouble. Was even able to do the software update without any problem. It's only when going to either targeting screen that it crashes. This started after I did a muzzle...

    Applied Ballistic Link App Crashes

i have a kestrel elite 5700 and the ballistics link app on my iPhone. The app connects to the unit but the app crashes whenever you go to the target screen. This just started happening up until now it's been working fine. I tried deleting the app and reinstalling it but it still isn't working...

    Giraud Trimmer Owners

I've never fooled with adjusting the cutter head itself, I have a cutter for each caliber .30 cal, 6.5, 22 etc. but I will use the same insert between certain cartridges 6.5x47/6.5 Creedmoor for example. The tool wasn't designed for the giraud Trimmer it was actually designed to set shoulder...

    Giraud Trimmer Owners

To all you guys running the giraud trimmers I found a cool little accessory that makes adjustments easy and repeatable. PMA Tool makes a micro adjustable locking ring that fits standard dies. The ring has graduated hash marks and each hash mark represents .001 of adjustment, one could easily...

    223 version of the RPR

Damn man that's really short and really slow. Hope it works out for you now that the smith opened it up some. Let me know how it does

    223 version of the RPR

Im using 23.9 grains of XBR 8208 in new lake city 16 brass with CCI 450 primers. COAL is 2.465 with a .010 jump. Load is very accurate consistently in the low .3's for 5 rounds with an SD of 10.8 for 19 rounds. Have confirmed this out to 825 yards with easy sub MOA even with fairly tricky winds...

    223 version of the RPR

I havnt shot any of the hornady but did shoot a box of 77 gr federal gold medal and it was around that same speed. My 80 grain eld load is running 2787 fps so it sounds like your barrel is fine. Also if it's new it will speed up some as you break the barrel in

It's got a pretty aggressive taper on so I think you could probably make that work.

    6.5 Creedmoor

You got something else going on cause if your velocity changes, 20 fps over 7 degrees is drastic.

    223 version of the RPR

Was able to confirm my 80 gr eld load this weekend at 825 yards. 6.5 mils put me where I needed to be and matched up well with my velocity and the stated BC value. Load was very accurate at that range easily less than 1 moa even in the tricky wind we had that day.

    Range Report OCW results

Yea I believe there is something past 41.2 but didn't feel comfortable pushing it any harder, one of the three rounds had a little bolt stick. Plus that's about all the H4350 I could fit in the 6.5x47 case. I'm also wanting to play around with Varget, it works really good on my 140 RDF loads so...
