Looking for a smaller 4x4 truck, need advice

A little late to the party but I have run 5 Toyotas...4 smaller SR5's and Tacomas. They go anywhere. My Tundra, not so much but its nice too. My uncle has an 85 toyota. The body is shot but it has the original clutch and engine and has over 300k on it. I beat the crap out of one of mine and it...

Rifle Scopes TPS? Ya or Nay

I have used both. They both worked. Used more TPS over the years. Never a problem. I do like the hex over the torx on the Seekins but a lot of people swear by the SP's. You don't have to lap the TPS either. They are matched. Always worked for me and they don't leave terrible ring marks either if...

Rifle Scopes vortex 2.5-10x32 FFP or 4-16x50 FFP

Magnification is good and more is always better, as mentioned before, for things other than shooting like target id, etc. Personally I was in the same boat about a year ago. I never did make the purchase for either scope because my needs changed. I went with a higher mag for my long range rifle...

First time headspacing Rem 700 - .260 build in progress - Pic Heavy

I have that same set of gage blocks I think. Feeler gages could get you pretty close too but I think you are going about it the right way. Looks good to me but what do I know. The .004" variance from go to no-go should be plenty of leeway too. Looking forward to seeing it complete.

Gunsmithing NF Base on Savage LRP, bedding required for 6.5 CM?

I bedded mine on my 308 10FP a while back. It wasn't a NF base but I figured it couldn't hurt. I'm sure you will be fine without doing it. Mine is older with the flat back though. Only bedded that portion.

Gunsmithing Smallest conceivable lathe for barrel work..

South Bend Heavy 10 (10L). I got two for under $600 each. In the process of finishing one up. Plenty accurate to chamber through the headstock if you know what you are doing. Yes they are lighter than some but are you going to be taking huge cuts and hogging metal? Don't think so. They will work...

    Gunsmithing Chassis Build/Bedding

Also found this. Took forever to find...I've been searching for weeks. So what I'm seeing here is a vee channel. Makes sense and easy to machine.

    Gunsmithing Chassis Build/Bedding

    Gunsmithing Chassis Build/Bedding

I thought about that but I don't have access to them and I find very few pictures of the mating surfaces online. Anyone have any links? The V block makes sense though. What about turning the outside of the action ever so slightly? Its going to get Cerakote anyway.

    Gunsmithing Chassis Build/Bedding

I have been thinking about building a chassis for my rifle on my manual mill. I measured the diameter of the action to just under 1.375". I can get a ball end mill that is that size but like I said its a bit under...maybe a couple thou. How should I go about making the receiver to stock contact...

    What happened?

I'm used to this format from other forums. LL is right that it makes this site much more powerful which is definitely a good thing. Added security is a big plus too nowadays. One thing I noticed though is that Google searches pointing to threads on this site revert to the main page and not to...

    Gunsmithing Savage skim bedding questions

Re: Savage skim bedding questions When I did mine a while back I roughed everything up with a Dremel. You can't really do too much where you are bedding because you are filling it back in (within reason). I used PVC tape to wrap around the barrel and the rear tang to create the correct...

    Gunsmithing VFD on a lathe?

Re: VFD on a lathe? All the VFD's I have seen are three phase out. I am in the process of rebuilding a South Bend Heavy 10 I got for cheap. I picked up a Hitachi WJ200 for my mill rated for 2HP and it was around $200. Probably get the same for my lathe since I like those a little more. You...

    Gunsmithing Painting Barrel and Action

Re: Painting Barrel and Action I did my action in alumahyde about 4 years ago. Many trips to the range and matches. Its held up great. Its a little glossy. The sell the matte clear coat too for over top but I tried that once and it came out glossy. Maybe I had a bad can. Real easy to apply...

What's Your Scope for Tac Competition Bolt Gun?

Re: What's Your Scope for Tac Competition Bolt Gun? I made the mistake of getting 18x on the high end. After a couple of matches I realized I need 24x for the milling portion. I know I can practice my milling but my eyesight sucks so I need all the help I can get. Fucking lenscrafters.
