    Magazine Selection Questions

Thank you! I have been on the MDT site many times, including the mag page, but never saw the illustration before. Not sure if a new addition or I never scrolled far enough, but thanks for pointing it out. Perfectly explains it! Thank you. - Phil

Prefit Barrels in a KRG Bravo?

Following up on my efforts to try and understand how much room there is for barrel nuts on the KRG Bravo chassis and what nuts may or may not fit, KRG wrote this. I don’t have a list of which will work but generally as long as the barrel nut is less diameter than the receiver it will work just...

Prefit Barrels in a KRG Bravo?

I will report back on what Patriot Valley Arms (PVA), BugHoles, and Northland Shooter Supply (NSS) have to offer in metric barrel nuts and outside diameter. I will also check Criterion since they offer Howa prefits with a nut, as does SinArms (own custom nut).

    KRG Bravo Fit & Finish

I am the OP. Just thought I would say I have ordered the KRG Bravo in FDE for a Howa action. I quite like the blend of chassis and conventional stock design. I did ask KRG about the fit of the panels. They e-mailed me back and said, There is some misalignment do to the tolerance allowances...

    Magazine Selection Questions

Thanks for the comments. I did e-mail KRG about mags for the Howa with or without the restrictor plate. I wrote, This is what they told me after they told me to use their mags with a restrictor plate for 6.5 x 47. ME: Since you said to use mags with restrictor plates, will this limit overall...

KRG Bravo - Spigot Mount & Harris Bipod Direct Mount

I am preparing my order for the KRG Bravo (for a Howa action). For those who have this chassis, perhaps you can share your opinions on two options I am considering. The Spigot Mount and the Harris Bipod Direct Mount. Did either make any material improvement in rifle stability, accuracy...

    Magazine Selection Questions

I am fairly set on using a KRG Bravo for building a Howa based 6.5 x 47 rifle. I am not familiar with magazines, so some help is appreciated. KRG offers AICS "pattern" mags in 5 and 10 round, with or without restrictor plate. What is this restrictor plate for? For 223? Is it removable...

Howa 1500 budget build stock questions

My experience with Bell and Carlson Tactical Medalist Style 2 (#2092) was anything but a good fit. I installed a Howa 223 barreled action in a heavy varmint barrel, and it dropped right in. Screw holes were slightly off, but I could get the screws in. Not impressed, but things got worse. I...

    KRG Bravo Fit & Finish

Thanks for your comment. I simply like quality, well-built products, a by-product of my desire for perfection, which I know can be expensive. The Bravo in my opinion, is a good value. The price goes to $439 with a Howa action, and Sako green is not available for the Howa, but still, I think...

Prefit Barrels in a KRG Bravo?

I will call both tomorrow. I saw that BugHoles has no listing for a nut using metric threads. Nor did I see anything metric at Northland. Not being able to be use prefit barrels in the Bravo would be a real shame. BugHoles nuts seem to be small in diameter, a good thing, but they have...

Prefit Barrels in a KRG Bravo?

Can anyone speak to the fit of a barrel nut in the KRG Bravo chassis? The KRG website says of the Bravo... “Barrel contours accepted: 1.25” for 4” in front of action face, then 1.20” straight to end of foreend. A 1.25” straight cylinder will fit but we fell that the clearance is too minimal...

    KRG Bravo Fit & Finish

Do you mean you had to cut away some of the chassis to fit around the nut? How did the Howa action fit? May I ask what barrel and caliber you are using? I am planning on a 6.5 x 47 Lapua.

    KRG Bravo Fit & Finish

The fit here is a far cry from that of the Bravo pictured in my original post. Thanks for the photo though, as your setup would be exactly as I had envisioned. I wondered about a polished barrel on the Bravo, as well as the fit of the barrel nut. I cannot tell from the photo, but is your...

    KRG Bravo Fit & Finish

Thanks, I did not know that. I did not much like that the MDT chassis with Howa action will only accept MDT polymer mags. As far as I know, the KRG Bravo with a Howa action will take AICS mags.

    KRG Bravo Fit & Finish

I am the OP..thanks for the responses. I am just a casual shooter off a bench with a Harris bipod and light bag. I do not compete, but like a nice rifle with ample ergonomic adjustments. The KRG Bravo is a good value, but then with current sale, so is MDT. Not having seen either of the two...

    KRG Bravo Fit & Finish

I am considering the KRG Bravo chassis for a Howa 6.5 x 47 setup. However, I notice on many photos of the Bravo the stock and fore-end have poor alignment. See below. This is seen on both sides. I know the Bravo is inexpensive, but still. Has anyone else seen this, is it fixable, or...? It...

Just got a b&c stock for my first bolt action.. Some questions

I too got the same 8 - 10 weeks for an evaluation of my stock, leading me to just have it bedded and be done with it. To my knowledge, and what I have read, the Weatherby Vanguard and Howa 1500 ARE identical. If so, then any ill-fitment is due to the stock. I am building another Howa, but...

Just got a b&c stock for my first bolt action.. Some questions

I think the B & C can be a good value, but do check it carefully. My Howa barreled action was slightly off center (not as bad as yours), but that was the least of my problems. With careful checking, I determined that the recoil lug on the action was not even touching the aluminum bedding spine...

Howa: Can AICS Mags Fit w/o Action Modification?

I am building a rifle using a Howa action, and am considering using bottom metal that uses AICS mags. I have read that it may be necessary to trim about .050" on some part of the action to make the mags fit. True? I am not so enthused about cutting or grinding the action. Phil

    Bradley CheekRest BUL Model Review

After putting my first bolt action rifle together, it quickly became evident I needed additional cheek rise. It was also evident that lowering the scope would not work as the 50mm objective was ¼” from the barrel, and I needed .35” - .40” cheek rise. Besides, I already had the lowest Burris...
