    CCI BR4 primers misfires

Okay final update on BR4s. I would conclude that MOST of my problem is primer seating depth combined with new brass. (original post above) 9 Failure to Fire out of 90 shots New Lapua Brass out of the box BR4s seated .002 to .003 below flush Suspected bad lot of primers ZERO Failure to fire...

    Links for PRS/Bipod Shooting

The snipers hide online training covers this very well. How to square up, load different types of bipods, drive the rifle, etc. My wife was very high achieving shooter for small bore .22 I shoot PRS style matches, and not nearly as successful as her. Our prone positions look nothing...

Muzzle Brake Gas Dispersion and LabRadar

Not exactly an answer to what you asked but hopefully helps. I set my lab radar about 8 -12 inches left Of my stock /chassis somewhere about even with the bipod. This seems to work very well. It picks up all my shots. If I get too close to my brake up toward the front of the barrel, gas...

    6.5 Creedmood Prime Ammo?

Not sure what happened above I just doped prime 130s at 2855fps out to 1,100 I loaded up Berger 130s to run 2855 as well They tracked nearly identical to my Berger 130s .287 G7 BC (like within 1/10 at 1,000) I don’t use AB on my kestrel so not sure your options, I use Ballistics AE and...

    DOPE shifted during match

For me, High Impacts 1) Weak position on a barricade, high impacts vs driving the bipod hard in prone 2) New Barrel speeding up. My barrel speed prior to match at 2850 I noticed high impacts and got 2875 after the match, now its 2900 at 400 rounds 3) Temp increase from morning to afternoon...

    CCI BR4 primers misfires

Agreed, I think it is a combination of what you mentioned, 1) the firing pin seating the primers for .002 combined with 2) a few extra thou of headspace on new lapua brass absorbing the firing pin strike.

    CCI BR4 primers misfires

As a follow up: 1) I seated my primers .005 below flush instead of .003 which I can feel the bottom of the cup with my hand primer 2) tried Federal 205m 3) tried brand new BR4s 4) shot them in once fired Brass only neck sized Everything is working perfectly now. Shot 130 rounds over two days...

6.5 CM Berger 130 Gr loads

Yea my chamber is long, which I'm guessing is why i only get 2805fps with 42.4gr of 4350. You may see better speeds / more pressure with less powder. Let us know how it turns out!

    Training Courses Rifles Only Training

Agree 100% with Doug's comments! I was there as well. Awesome weekend and new skills. Much improved fundamentals as well as pushing my skills to the limit on courses of fire. Looking forward to club matches at Rifles Only this year. Thanks again to Jacob and Lisa. To add, Texas Rum is...

6.5 CM Berger 130 Gr loads

Clocked, I run 130 Berger AR Hybrids *42.4* gr H4350 Lapua 6.5CM Brass CCI BR4 Primer I get 2805fps with zero pressure signs. This is probably on the slow side but it shoots 1/3 MOA and my speeds always fall within 10FPS when I chrono. Tight groups and small ES..... DONE On the ES...

Advanced Marksmanship POI Shifts From Different Surfaces

I watched a lot of Franks training videos on how he loads Atlas vs Harris bipod. Also worked with Jacob at Rifles Only this weekend and got a nice tune up on my fundamentals. Before this weekend I was leaning into the bipod with pressure, pulling the bipod into my shoulder pocket with both...

What was your biggest “aha!” Moment as a beginner?

    1) Getting off the bench and realizing how much BETTER i can shoot prone. 2) Getting off my belly and realizing how much there is so much to learn from alternate positions. I love getting in the back yard and building positions on stuff around the house and watching my wobble decrease every...

Advanced Marksmanship POI Shifts From Different Surfaces

Thanks for your reply, I guess ski feet is a bad description. Its a sako bipod, claw feet may be a better way to put it. They grip hard on grass.

Advanced Marksmanship POI Shifts From Different Surfaces

Diver, I was traveling for 3 weeks and didn't get a chance to practice and check my groups off a barricade. BUT...shot my club match this weekend for fun and to get back on the gun. They set up a barricade kneeling stage with 3 targets 3 shots each with wide short target (aka wind call)...
