    Colcal, thanks for the quick load reference. I hope that the a-max's do start showing up again soon. I have had good luck with them for target and game and already have a load worked up for them. I have a feeling that it may be a while before we start seeing them in stock though.

    Thanks Dino for the reply. I have contemplated using RL17 but I like the stability of hodgdon powders and we have some pretty wide temp swings also. What barrel lengths are you running?

    My ss 5-20 turret doesn't always line up perfect either but it isn't enough to bother me. If you loosen the cap and turn it .1 or. 2 mil in either direction it may line up. Either way you should bring it over for a comparison.

    Thanks Sporter, every little bit helps. I agree about H1000 and 4831 being a little slow but if someone has tried either one I would love info as I have quite a bit of both. Varget has been my go-to powder for 7mm-08 and 308. I load 7mm-08 with Varget/162 Amax's and get around 2750 fps in a 21"...

    Has anyone worked on loads for 7mm-08 using 168 berger classic hunters. I am interested in Hodgdon powders, specifically H1000, H4831, Varget, and H4350. Please include bbl length, charge wt, COAL, and velocity if possible. Any first hand info would be greatly appreciated.

    Re: 2 year chase is over I used to hunt on the Eglin AFB range and in Blackwater naational forest and can say that Florida is a difficult place to score on a nice buck. I have seen a few but never connected with anything decent. Good job and way to stick it out. That mount looks great.
