    That's what my buddy keeps telling me, how is the recoil vs an ar10? The ar10's seemed heavy to me, and the scar seems like it would kick harder due to the light weight.

    I'm looking into buying my first 'battle rifle' and the only things I really know are the 'features' I'd like. No specific caliber, and no real brand loyalty. Balanced, 50-400 yds, reliable, 4x multiplication, <10 lbs if possible, somewhat fast target reacquisition.

    Everything I've read says my numbers aren't unrealistic; but this is all just what I've read, not what I've actually seen. So if they are unrealistic, what are more realistic velocities for the 30-06 and 308?

    How do you decide on a powder? I'm reloading for an 18" 30-06, a 24" .308, 4.5" .45, and 22" 30-30... I've seen all the talk about slow burning powder and fast burning powder. But dont know which to get.

    Jgorski- Did you shoot these groups at 100 yards? I would guess your speed is equal to 2650 Culpeper- Looks like a nice load. He does not care. his German is terrible Jgorski- this is relevant Translated for those of us that don't read german.

    Double checked, it's correct, .699 and .706 I'm not sure what to think of it because it's on the tight side of tolerance, but a 'too big' raceway. Maybe it's been blueprinted? Any advice?

    Well, my bolt mics .699 all the way down and around the bolt. My action mics .706 so it falls into that .007 range. But what do new bolts measure? It sounds like a win but I wanted to make sure before ordering parts.
