Just need to finally brag a little. Done with a 308 load workup.

FINALLY finished the load workup for my M24A2 that I've been neglecting due to my preference for shooting/hunting at night and ARs as of late. Started it quite some time ago with great results at 400 yards (3 inch or less groups during ladder testing) and got frustrated along the way. It was a custom build so I always had the 'what is the actual best this can do, or am I already at it?' scenario running through my mind. I'd start it up again, so shoot, tweak a bit, get frustrated and then would go do something else.

Today was the day. Just wanted to finally somehow celebrate; did yet another OCW test (5 rounds per weight, round robin 1 shot) on a batch and started to look great with 2 coming in under .5 inch and then had a charge weight group at .278. Shot the weight again, .285.

If anyone is interested, the load is:

    43.9 IMR4895
    175g SMK .010 jammed
    Tula 7.62 primer
Winchester brass sized with a .332 Redding bushing

Not sure on the velocity as I didn't bother to take the chrono with me, but if anyone is interested I'll let you know when I do.

Just glad this is over; having the outcome be this good is even better. This is why I hate buying new rifles.

Jgorski- Did you shoot these groups at 100 yards? I would guess your speed is equal to 2650

Culpeper- Looks like a nice load. He does not care. his German is terrible

    Jgorski- this is relevant

Translated for those of us that don't read german.

Congrats, but it won't last for long. Chasing the lands then wearing out the barrel, etc. It never really ends. I'm sorry you view it as a chore though. I think it is half the fun.

I would probably get bored of shooting if someone else were to just give me a perfect rifle and perfect ammo for it and all I had to do is aim and shoot.
