    165gr GameKing help

I use the 165 Game Kings in my 308 exclusively for deer hunting with excellent penetration and expansion, in fact, it's my favorite pill to load. I run mine 20 off the lands in my 11 Lightweight hunter but I set mine with with a Hornady headspace gage because every chamber will be different...

    Bruno's has 22LR

Not too fond of Bruno's in general. They want to rape you on shipping (which seems to be the norm now days rather than the exception) and their prices on powder and primers are higher than any other internet supplier. I actually talked to Amy Bruno about that and was told tough shitte. They...

how tolerant should I be of neighbors dog ?

Your actions are entirely predicated on one, the physical size and prowness of your neighbor, two, his firearm collection and his temper. I'd approach it at first diplomatically and see what result you get. If a negative reaction, then get serious but be prepared to either get your ass kicked...

new to a bench source annealing machine

.....and in the long run, a 10 (or 20) pound bottle is cheaper. If you have a gas grill, use that bottle...lol Far as checking the necks, it's all about springback and that takes some finesse on your part. They do make machines that check the ductility and elongation but you can't afford one...

    firearm storage question

My suggestion is to put the box in the house somewhere. Reason being, you live in Ohio and you'll have a wide variation in ambient temperatures and humidity levels, both detrimental to metals and both promote corrosion. You might get by with a container of dessicant (silica gel crystals) but...

The great 6.5mm vs. .308 Bullet Debate, but with TERMINAL BALLISTICS

I own a 6.5x55 and a 308. My go to rifle for hunting is the 308 for one reason and that is ammunition availability. Having said that, I handload everyrhing but.... put yourself in the situation where you've flown in to a hunt and your sacred handloads get lost somehow. If it's a 6.5 round...

You know it's deer season when...

I must be 'one of those'. I get my riles (aka: tools) sighted in and put them away in the gun cabinet for when I need them. I know where they are printing at for a particular load/pill and so long as I'm using the same, I don't fiddle with them. The only one I might fiddle with is my long...

    Preferred method/tool for case trimming

I had a Redding morcometer trimmer for years that I sold because it was literally a 'pain in the hand', after a number of cases, cranking the handle got, shall we say, tedious anr it was hard to hold case length across a number of cases because the inherent deflection on the spindle/chuck...

Night Vision Major Disappointment: FLIR BHS-XR 65mm

I will say that I put the FLIR in the same catergory as Trigicon rifle scopes. Overpriced and limited use. I can't see how a company like Trigicon stays in business, well, I know how, Trigicon is a first tier government supplier probably the makers of the FLIR are as well. The gummit can pay...

To Chamfer or NOT to Chamfer after using World's Finest Trimmer

I did a side by side comparison of your versus Dale's and Dale's is similar in concept to yours but as far as I could ascertain (without actually buying one which I had no intention to), yours lacked the interchangeability of caliber groups that Dale's did. You both use the same operating...

    Which 308 dies to get?

Depends on your end use. Bolt action ,maximum accurate range rifles require handloads with proper neck tension and cartridge concentricity while shorter range ballistics require less prep and precision. In the very least I'd purchase an RCBS Competition die set in 308 Winchester with RCBS's...

To Chamfer or NOT to Chamfer after using World's Finest Trimmer

As a matter of procedure, I VLD everything. I use an RCBS VLD reamer but again, I take the handle off and chuck the reamer in a lathe, that way I can use 2 hands to align the case mouth and control the cut and of course it's much quicker than the manual method. The Giraud Machine Tool and the...

To Chamfer or NOT to Chamfer after using World's Finest Trimmer

I too have a WFT from LittleCrow. I actually sold my Redding Micrometer lathe in favor of the WFT because it's more consistent with less fiddle time involved. I did a review of the WFT for Len Bakus and it's on his forum. I do a couple things to reduce or eliminate the case mouth burr, One...

Rifle Scopes Vortex Viper PST choice

Youy mean to say it goes back to Vortex for replacement. The 'factory' isn't in the United States. There is no 'factory'. The factory is in the Phillepenes (llook at the bottom of the erector housing) (and China on the less expensive lines). Not an issue with me, I have 4 Vortex rifle...

    Check out this Yeti cooler

We just put a small chest freezer in the back of the pickup and a portable generator for hunts. If we stay at a motel en-route we use an extension cord on the freezer. Did numerous elk and mosse hunts that way. You can keep the Yeti, give me a Whirlpool.
