Rifle Scopes You guy's are just killing me.

Since I became a forum member I have done a lot of reading on a lot of different topics. One of those were items covered here in the Optics section. I have bought a few scopes (Vortex PST FFP, SWFA SS, Mk 4) and really like the total control I have and the ability to twist and shoot out to any...

Tools you have you should have started with.

I have been reloading since the late 70's. During that time I have bought some things that have helped and others that I have used as filler for my shelves. So in case I have missed something, I was wondering what tools you have now that you wished you had bought earlier in your reloading...

I'm Rich! Powder Valley order finally arrived.

They charge Kansas sales tax only for in state shipments or with those states that have an agreement with them. I think CA has figured out to to get their pound of flesh for everything.

    Lead Sled for load development?

I have the Dual Rail version and I feel like I am dialing in artillery instead of sighting a rifle. The adjustments are coarse and imprecise, it walks all over with every shot, and it is frustrating to the point of taking the joy out why you are there to begin with. Give me a PAST magnum pad...

    Canned Air

Griff, That is my point. The cooling would be dependant upon the length of the blast. I think, but have no data to back it up, that as long as we are not talking a radical temperature swing there would be no harm. Hence my point on doing this between rounds so there was no substantial heat...

    Canned Air

Has anyone put a short blast of canned air down their barrel between shots on an OCW or Ladder to aid barrel cooling? I am not talking about emptying a full can down a smoking hot tube here.

.308 Winchester Charge Needed [SMK 175, IMR 4064, Fed 215M, Lake City Brass]

All the 308 LC brass I have has a decrease in volume compared to about any other type of brass that can get you in trouble fast. Duplicate loads using FGMM vs. LC brass had a full 0.6 gr difference. The good side is you can get an extra load or two out of a pound of powder.

I'm Rich! Powder Valley order finally arrived.

My only regret is that I was not able to find it all at the same time. $27.50 HazMat x 3 is not as good as just paying it the one time. On the other hand, I have my maximum allowed by local law of components on hand and loading for the high volume items has already began.

    When to trim?

Let me clarify my question a bit then. Every time I shoot my bolt guns there is a bit of growth that will culminate with an eventual need to bump the shoulder back. During this time your case necks grow a bit as well. So, is there a need to trim necks, knowing that this will be off of a...

    When to trim?

With the Giraud and the Little Crow trimmers both indexing off the shoulder, do you only trim to length after a shoulder bump? I have my 223 setup in a 650 with a FL resize in station one and a Dillon 1200 in station 4 so they are FL resized and trimmed every trip through. With my bolt guns...

Advanced Marksmanship crazy shots!!!! lets hear about them...

Three of us pre-teens out with out shotguns hunting quail. We were out all day and there was not a bird to be seen. We start heading back to the house and low and behold one lonely bird bust's up from a bush in front of us. The shotguns went off as one sound. Three 12ga 7 1/2's converge...

Hunting & Fishing Big Energy took my turkeys!

So, I went to set up my blind today for some turkey hunting next week. Went to the same ole spot where the turkeys do the same ole thing....except this year. Seems there is now a oil pump and storage battery where they have roosted for years. I walked the whole property howling and cawing and...

    Left powder sitting around

Did you look at your powder measure? The reason I ask is most powders are hygroscopic. They will abosorb moisture readily in other words. Is the inside of your measure etched? Are the metal parts corroded? If so I would toss it and if not I would toss it anyway.

    Best shipping and hazmat fees?

Just looked it up. All powder and primers are considered Haz Mat and require the shipper to be trained and licensed. Exceptions are primers in unloaded brass are not considered Haz Mat and neither is loaded ammunition (ORMD). Not allowed in baggage of any type either.

    Crimped brass....

Crimped where? Regardless whether you are talking about case necks or primers they are useable. Primer crimps just take an additional step during processing.

UPS says it is Christmas tomorrow.

Looks like 24 lbs of powder and about 1k bullets show up tomorrow. I was wondering if others are slowly having orders start trickling in? 16# CFE 223 and 8# Varget

    Reloading room floor covering suggestions

OK, how about the plastic carpet protector rolls they use when showing a home or moving furniture in? Adhesive on one side and slick on the other. Put some down under the bench with it lapping up a inch or two on the base boards. Overlap the seams a bit to seal it and you have a sealed...

    Reloading room floor covering suggestions

In all honesty I would consider pulling up the carpet. If the house is on a slab foundation you could have the cement cleaned, stained, and sealed. this would give you a solid foundation that looks great and is about impervious to whatever you may drop or spill on it. If a frame house...

    Hunting & Fishing Smart money

This is the best deer we got last year. My youngest son was the proud shooter on this one. There are nice deer there. We just want better.
