New GAP in route!!!

Re: New GAP in route!!! Your route around the block must not take you past France?! *En route Seriously though, beautiful rifle. What optics would you go for if you sell the Remi/Leup? Just make sure you don't trade-in an accurate rifle!

help wanted please! brands of rifles

Re: help wanted please! brands of rifles Hey, I was in the same position last year. I went for the Rem700 SPS Varmint in .243 and dropped a top end Bushnell Elite on it. Perfect kit and wouldn't have done it any other way. The £700 scope might get sneared at on here, but it holds true, is...

Gun won't shoot with a can!

Re: Gun won't shoot with a can! Have you considered the length of the bullet? The longer the bullet the more yaw on exiting the muzzle. Very slight contact with the baffles may be throwing them off course?

Custom Front Sand Bag for Christmas!

Hi All Just wanted to show off an incredible Christmas present I got from my partners sister. She created this from scratch with my best mate without me knowing anything about it. It's extremely well made in a coarse waterproof material and is filled with several pounds of dried corn kernels...

    Gunsmithing CAD Drawings

Re: CAD Drawings From an OEM? Not a chance. I tried contacting a reputable manufacturer asking the same question when I was building a custom stock and got told to f**k off. Quite understandable really...! Rich

    Question for current AICS owners

Hi Please can anyone who runs a 700 short action in an AICS stock do me a favour and measure the following length (from the front face of the ejection port to the furthest point on the AICS): I'm assessing how short I can cut my barrel down, allowing for a future change of stock without my...

newbie question on components for a build

Re: newbie question on components for a build No problem. The cost is the only downside that I know of. Very little strength is lost and the added surface area will only help cool the barrel more efficiently. Once again, I hope others will add to this as I am by no means as knowledgeable as...

Re: newbie question on components for a build Hi I'm also new to this but as no one else has had a go, I'll try and get the ball rolling!... What make an action better over another like a Stiller or Surgeon, etc. IF these are precision actions, wouldn't...

26" (.243 Win) Barrel, Cutting Down To.......?!

Re: 26" (.243 Win) Barrel, Cutting Down To.......?! Thats interesting, what was the twist on your fathers .243 and how accurate was it? Yeah, it does have the 9 1/8" twist which, considering the velocity of the .243 rounds and using the 'greenhill formula' seems to suit a lighter bullet. So...

26" (.243 Win) Barrel, Cutting Down To.......?!

Hi I am considering cutting my Rem 700 SPS Varmint .243 26" barrel down as far as possible without affecting accuracy (500yrds max). I use a can which weighs a lot and the extra barrel weight (and length, multiplying the cans weight) is killing me on long hikes! If I could move the Reflex can...

One Piece Action, Mount & Ring?

Re: One Piece Action, Mount & Ring? That was the concept, I presume if someone was willing to shell out several £k for such a build then it would be seriously well thought out in the first place!!! The idea was to have a standard blank action (internals) & bolt with the ring dimensions/angle...

One Piece Action, Mount & Ring?

Hi I've just been playing around with a few ideas for a custom build. This has had no real thought put in to it so please do not criticise the lack of detail or obvious design flaws!!! Doe's anybody know if this sort of one piece action/mount/rings has ever been attempted? Clearly the action...

Cr@p groups from new rifle. Help!

Re: Cr@p groups from new rifle. Help! Cheers DMann I know. I design injection molded parts for a living and hate the stock for all its flaws and flexibility. Having said that, it's cheap and serves the purpose of being replaced (the main reason I chose a Remington 700 was for it's incredible...
