    Sako S20 280ai build

That’s unfortunate. Sounds like the whole rifle isn’t worth the risk. Really too bad because, on paper, there’s a lot to like

Finally got out for some more testing today. 178 ELD-M’s with CFE223 patterned like a shotgun. Not sure if it’s the ELD’s or the CFE, but the 22” factory barrel hated that combo. Second pic was 43.8grs of IMR8208xbr with a 155 Lapua scenar at 2850fps. Definitely pulled the one on the right...

Rifle Scopes Advice On "Do-All" Optic for 2 Caliber Origin Build

To me, the perfect crossover scope is the March 4.5-28x52 FX Highpower. Excellent mag range, FML-TR1 is a good reticle that isn’t too busy, wide angle eyepiece with crazy files of view, great glass, great turrets with super easy zero stop and and weighs 29oz.

    Spuhr, ZCO, now A419 mounts

Not as mainstream, but an amazing mount, is the Near manufacturing Alphamount. Machining is work-of-art level, made with a proprietary titanium alloy so not too heavy, and available in all ring sizes up to 36mm and a bunch of different heights. His website hasn’t been updated in forever but he...

A top tier brand that often gets overlooked is March. I’ve been super happy with mine and my 2 shooting buddies also converted. One has the same 4.5-28 that I have and another has the 5-42 and they have been amazing.

    The Goldilocks Hunting Rifle

A Desert Tech SRS-A2 covert with the factory lightweight 7 rem mag conversion kit. Pick an optic with reasonable weight and you should end up around 13lbs all up ready to hunt, even lighter if you pick a sub-30oz scope and light rings. Plus you can always change cartridges at your whim...

Got to shoot my M2 today, man I’ve missed owning one of these rifles! After a ridiculous amount of dry fire this week the bolt has smoothed right up. Loaded up some 178eld-m’s in fresh Lapua brass with cfe223 and a previous favourite load 46.5. Didn’t love it as much as my previous 308 but this...

    Trg 42 chassis recommendation

Definitely money better spent. You’ll never regret getting the best glad you can afford.

Awesome, thanks for the info. I’m going to order one and give it a go.

    Trg 42 chassis recommendation

I would say it’s overblown. A few have cracked but there are A LOT of these rifles around. If it was a real issue you would hear about it more. I would guess that it’s more due to rough handling or over tightening the rear action screw. The folding rear whiskey3 is really nice, especially for...

@Dogtown you had a 1.250” barrel made up for your M2 a couple pages back and had noted that it might be hanging up on the mlok screws. Did trimming them down do the trick? Do you think a 1.250 barrel is still a good idea? I was hoping to order a straight 1.250 myself

It’s factory, the latest bolts have a nickel-something coating. Pretty slick

In this thread we will discuss heavy bolt lift.

Heavy bolt lift and smoothness of the whole operation used to be high on my priorities but as I’ve gotten older and bought/ built/ sold many rifles I am much more interested in how dependable/ rugged/ accurate a rifle is, even if the bolt isn’t as smooth as a BAT. If the lift is heavy enough...

On the note of that trigger weight adjustment screw… I just took mine out to see how low I could get my trigger. After re-assembly and putting the skins back on the trigger worked normally once, when I cocked to check again it locked up and the safety wouldn’t engage. Tore the skins off again...

Thanks! It’s the Cadex MX1 brake and it’s what I threw on because it’s the only 5/8x24 brake I had spare. I agree though, on my A1 covert that I had with a 22” barrel I had a MDT elite brake and the felt blast was terrible. I’ve since concluded that brake is a garbage design anyway and I’ll try...

I thought I read somewhere that it’s perfectly fine to run the trigger without that screw for the lowest pull weight? Any truth to that? Also, finally got my March 4.5-28 mounted, hopefully shooting in a couple days.

Trigger is great right out of the box, no creep that I can feel and I would guess a 2-2.5lb pull. I was worried about the trigger because it seems like there’s some creepish ones out there and I didn’t get a chance to handle a A2/M2 before I bought. And my old A1’s had the orkan trigger mods...

Coming home from work to a brand new M2 waiting for you makes for a great day! I will say that the new bolt has a way lighter cocking/ close than my old A1’s had and I can’t believe how much lighter this new design is. Trigger is nice and crisp as well. The only thing that has me slightly...
