    280 Ackley Improved

"If you're looking for long range performance, steer away from the 140s and think heavier---> like 162, 168, or 180gr bullets." I agree! I use the 140's up to 600. Over 600 I like the 168 Berger hunting vld's. They've been consistently very accurate out of several 7 mags, 280AI and 7-08 that...

    280 Ackley Improved

I've also had very good luck with the Nosler 140 bal. tip with IMR 4350 and IMR 4831, 60 - 62 gr. at 3200 - 3250fps. I used the 4350 because I got more velocity, same accuracy.

Randy is a class act! He shared a lot of wisdom here. "Got M700?"

    Gunsmithing Stiller bolt rubbing

The bolt nose shouldn't be rubbing the counterbore. I'm not saying that's what the rub mark is from though. If it shoots great all the time then I'd probably say(without looking at it in person) dont worry about it. It it is inconsistently accurate, the bolt nose rubbing may be why. Hard to...

Extremely low wait times at Phoenix Custom Rifles. Parts in stock! Couple changes...

Thanks for the support guys! We really appreciate it. We do work on Winchesters and Model 7s. The model 7s are slightly more limited in the work we offer compared to the 700s(No side bolt stops for example). After barreling a few Tikka T3 actions, I may start offering work on them. There are...

    Gunsmithing Chambering question

I've always opened the CB w/ the mini M16 to .785" as a rule. After reading this I went into the shop and checked a standard and a magnum bolt w/ M16 and my lightbulb came on:) Thanks guys, I learn something every day.

    Gunsmithing Chambering question

Open the barrel counterbore width to .785" and if the extractor is longer than the bolt nose, you accommodate for that also.

    Gunsmithing PTG Bolt Problem

Same feeling here!!! We've been replacing all of our PT&G reamers with JGS and it has been worth the expense to say the least. We've had problems with dragging reamers and I could make a long list of parts and ordering frustrations. That said, their parts are very important to our operation...

Thanks. Been a passion of mine for way too many years. Arizona is a great place to live if you have long range capabilities. This first one is the deer in the picture.

Remington 600 as a target rifle

The bolt can be removed by sticking the blade of a pocket knife into the left side of the raceway and depressing the stop. No need to remove it from the stock. Wish I still had mine:(

Not a bad guess. Net 110 and a fat one. He had a good day ...Keith I mean, not the buck:) I was just going through some old pictures and couldn't resist. The pic with him carrying the cape out is a good one. I'll have to keep looking.

Gunsmithing Bolt hard to move after Cerakoting...

A little surprising considering he didn't coat the bolt body but there is obviously too much Cerakote in the raceway. Usually the bolt contact areas under the bridge. You could carefully take 320 grit sandpaper folded to contact only the area(s) you want sanded and remove the Cerakote from...
