Rifle Scopes S&B 1.1-4 Short Dot

Re: S&B 1.1-4 Short Dot I have the 1.1-4x24 Zenith Short Dot LE. In that magnification range I prefer the SFP and the smaller dot at distance. It is a great scope. Here is a link to a review. www.tactical-life.com/online/exclusives/cqb-short-dot-scopes-in-the-kill-zone/ Below is the...

Gunsmithing Barrel to Stock Opening Relationship

Is there a concrete rule on which barrel dimension can be used for a given barrel channel opening? For example: could you use a #6 contour in a stock opened for a #7 or even a #8? If possible would it be adviseable to do so? I ask this, as I have picked up a few stocks over the years planning...

    DPMS LR-308

Re: DPMS LR-308 I have an 18" LR-308 with a Rock River 2 stage trigger. It is quite accurate with 175gr match bullets and 168-175gr hunting bullets. For hunting, I use a Trijicon 3-9 AccuPoint which is a great hunting optic. Especially if you expect to engage moving targets.

Range Report 260 Remington help needed

Re: 260 Remington help needed As it relates specifically to your velocity question, my experiments with RL-17 are showing 75-100 fps more velocity over H-4350 out of a 24" GAP bolt gun. Initial signs of accuracy are good relative to the H-4350 loads which are excellent...but I still have...

    Range Report 260 Remington handloads

Re: 260 Remington handloads I have been getting outstanding results with the 140gr Accubonds over 41.0 gr of H4350 or IMR4350 in my 24" GAP with a 1:8.5 twist. The 140gr Berger VLD-H bullets and 140gr Hornady A-MAX bullets also work extremely well with the same charge. I haven't run these...

    Rifle Scopes USO SN3 3.2-17x44 vs. S&B 4-16x42 PMII

Re: USO SN3 3.2-17x44 vs. S&B 4-16x42 PMII I have both of these scopes and like them very much. Reticle choices would be the biggest decision and as everyone else has stated that is personal. I would also consider your application. My 4-16x42 is on a rifle that is mostly used for hunting...

    Hodgdon 4350 vs. IMR 4350

Re: Hodgdon 4350 vs. IMR 4350 Thank you for the feedback. Any thoughts on how the RL-17 would stack up? It has also performed well...but I have only played with a few loads.

    Hodgdon 4350 vs. IMR 4350

I have been working up loads for my GAP 260 and have found that both of these powders perform extremely well. So well, that it is hard to tell the difference. Groups are excellent and I would be very confident in either one. In fact, I had settled on IMR 4350 based on availability but found...

    Hunting & Fishing Diavari

Re: Diavari If you try a search you will find a ton of info on those scopes. Also the optics section is a better place to ask your question. The main difference in the scopes you mention is FFP vs. SFP which is all personal preference. In my opinion if hunting is your main focus go with...

    Are sendero barrels accurate???

Re: Are sendero barrels accurate??? I have a Sendero in 7 mag and a VSSF in 22-250 both are great shooters. The catch is...I purchased both used and was able to test before purchasing. Unlike my custom rifles some of which were purchased new. If I were to rebarrel either one I would not...

    Range Report HUNTING SHACK AMMO

Re: HUNTING SHACK AMMO I have used it in 223, 260 Rem and 308. It has all performed very well. I can get better accuracy on reloads in the 260 and 308 but better is relative. It has all produced sub MOA accuracy. The 223 55gr VMAX performed equally as well to my reloads with the same...

Hunting & Fishing 264 Win Mag for hunting, what do you think

Re: 264 Win Mag for hunting, what do you think I load 6.5mm bullets in the 260 Remington and the 6.5mm Rem Mag. Have had great luck with the Nosler Accubond bullets in both calibers and would expect them to perform equally well in the 264 Win. I have also loaded the Nosler Partitions which...
