    All depends on the game type/style, Arcade shooters like COD and battlefield, they just want to look at the guns and gear, try to get sounds etc. Your MilSims like Arma, have advisors on board for realism. Its's not uncommon for the studio's to bring on Vets for authenticity purposes.

    Never specified that debris was dirty threads, friction can create debris too. could have worded it better, just kept it dumbed down.

    Probably shoot as much as the Wildland developers. Not much, the guns there are a hot mess.

    Look up thread galling. Essentially some debris gets stuck between threads and cause a gauge in the thread, since it has no where to go, it balls up until it gets stuck. Small threads are cute when they gall, drill strings are a pain in the ass.
