    Re: First precision rifle.... Opinions wanted. My choice would be Savage all the way, good trigger and a snap to change barrels on down the road. I would opt for at least a 24" barrel if you are planning to shoot beyond 600yd.

    Re: Level I feel that levels are a must, 1/2 deg at a 1000 yards equals 10 inches which when shooting at an 8 inch target is a miss. I also agree with Topstrap that it needs to be on the scope and not the base. If you are setting up a hunting rig I would not worry with it as most shots taken...

    I am thinking about building a 1000yd pistol using a savage striker as a base. First I need to locate a striker in .243, .308 or 22.250 as a platform to start from. Any ideas or thoughts or advise.
