Anyone interested in free 303 British surplus ammo?

They are loaded with Cordite. What is the headstamp on the cartridges? I have fired thousands of rounds of WW2 cordite loaded Mk VII .303 back in the day...a 600 round case on bandos was about $62 OTD back in the 80s. .used to buy 5-6 cases at a time. Cordite is tough on barrel throats, and...

Has anyone done a good comparison of the different rifles available for CMP shooting?

OP, I would make sure you become familiar with the Vintage Sniper Match rules and then decide how much money you are willing to throw at the proposition to get you where you want to go. Know going in that there isn’t an inexpensive turn key solution. A cheaper alternative is to shoot the...

Has anyone done a good comparison of the different rifles available for CMP shooting?

That article is fine for the military rifle matches...the Vintage Sniper Matches have specific requirements for scopes, etc. Replicas of the 03A4 and milsurp 91/30 PU rifles can be had without breaking the bank. The replica Weaver 330 scopes that were first used on 03A4 replicas were trash. You...

Has anyone done a good comparison of the different rifles available for CMP shooting?

As far as comparison is concerned, be prepared for sticker shock when it comes to the cost of doing business. Look at the Quantico Rifle Club Vintage Sniper Match past standings for the rifles used. ETA- a real 91/30 Sniper will be your cheapest mil-surp for this game. I have one, ergos suck...

M41 Swedish Mauser sniper... will run you close to $4K

Has anyone done a good comparison of the different rifles available for CMP shooting?

Which discipline? The different matches are layed out in the CMP rule book. ETA- the M1903 is my favorite service rifle, with the M1 a close second... I own far more of each than I would care to admit. They are accurate, but for pure accuracy the Swedish mauser with M41 ammunition or the Swiss...

I need a hand with this Springfield 1903, please

If you were still considering building that rifle into a replica M1903A1 sniper for the Vintage Sniper Match it will get expensive quickly: A good C stock (real GI replacement and not a replica club that will need reprofiling) $495 from Northridge International...

I need a hand with this Springfield 1903, please

It is your rifle and you can do what you want with it, but my recommendation is to keep it as is and find another complete rifle for CMP games. The money and effort you will spend on trying to recover that hunting rifle will never be recouped...with the drilled receiver it is too far gone.This...

Sidearms & Scatterguns Sig has now delivered over 100,000 m17/m18 pistols to MIL

So, SIG complied with the terms of a FFP IDIQ contract. From an acquisitions perspective, a contractor producing deliverables in compliance with the SOW/PWS/SOO is hardly remarkable. Nothing against the manufacturer or their product...but trumpeting the fact that they are satisfactorily...

Gunsmithing U.S. Gun Inletting & Stocks?

18 U.S. Code § 921 11) The term “dealer” means (A) any person engaged in the business of selling firearms at wholesale or retail, (B) any person engaged in the business of repairing firearms or of making or fitting special barrels, stocks, or triggermechanisms to firearms, or (C) any person who...

Gunsmithing Looking for a top end Smith for an old Smith.....

Agreed...i was thinking after including shipping both ways you are lookkng at $400+ ...it is going to need to be shipped to someone familiar with the process like Bowen. Sell it and get an adjustable sight revolver...or what ever you want. He would be throwing good money after bad and not be...

Gunsmithing Looking for a top end Smith for an old Smith.....

If I had to take a guess based on the off duty reference, I am thinking it might be a Model 60. Easier to conceal a 2” round butt J frame than a 6” square butt K frame. You can find adjustable sight Model 60s...no need to mod a fixed sight gun.

Gunsmithing Looking for a top end Smith for an old Smith.....

The Model 68 was a K frame .38 Special square butt 6” barrel with an adjustable rear sight...made for CHP and LAPD from1977-1988, approx 6000 mfg, according to the Standard Catalog of Smith and Wesson Firearms. If it is a fixed sight gun, it isn’t a 68...possibly mismarked (not unheard of with S&W)

Suppressors Suppressor Application DENIED!!! Something to be aware of.

Well, signed the paperwork on 11/22 and it was mailed immediately afterwards. No check cashed email, no check cashed note on my SS My Orders page, and received my second Immediate Action Required: Signature Variance Update from Appeals@Silencershop at 1:07pm today...WTF. This whole process has...

    Sporterized Gewehr 88?

Nice commercial 88 sporting rifle... they were manufactured until right after WW1. I had a nice V.C. Schilling j bore that I stupidly sold. Barrel was marked V. Chr. Schilling - Suhl - Prussia. Have also seen them mfg by C.G. Haenel.

    Cast Steel Pocket rifle

If memory serves me correctly, they were made in various barrel lengths and in calibers from .28-.44 mid 1830s-mid 1840s by Ethan Allen. The pocket rifle appellation is in reference to having a rifled barrel, which was the exception then.

    lee enfield sniper rifle

They were $850 when they were imported. They had Transit chests without contents, but did have the metal scope case.
