Waiting on parts for a new build - Mega Maten .308 what do ya'll think about the parts?

I built a 308 on a Mega Maten last year, whose purpose was heavy metal (iron or non-magnified) 3 gun. And then my schedule changed and I haven't used it. 16" JP Barrel with BattleComp, Wilson Combat TRIM rail, Magpul UBR stock and Wilson Combat Tactical Two Stage trigger. I also put a...

    Suppressors Socom 762-RC review.

I'm not sure I have much to add to this discussion. But... I went with the socom 762 primarily because I liked the QD mount, and Surefire's reputation (though I'm not saying others' reps aren't also fine). Also, my LGS stocks SF and its a store I like to support. I have it mounted on a 20"...

Best performaing MK262-like ammo? Hornady, black hills, or others?

Ive had good results with 77 gr Fiocchi out of my SPR. My about 2 years ago, I did a comparison with it, Federal GMM, and both Red and Blue box from Black Hills. The Fiocchi actually had the smallest spread and the second fastest MV. It also the cheapest of the bunch. I have had a couple of...

Sidearms & Scatterguns M&P pro holster option

I have JM Customs which I like. Comfortable and holds the pistol nicely. After a few competitions, I decided I wanted something that didn't hug me quite so well. So now I have, but haven't yet used, a Bladetech. Looks promising...

    7.62 BCG potential issue

I had the same issue with a NiB BCG that I bought and installed in a Mega 308 late last year. I also had some extraction issues and Rainier Arms took back the BCG without any hassle. I don't know if they would have done so had I complained [only] about the machining--I didn't bring it up...

    LMT .308 MWS

Here are some MV I measured on my 16" CL... FGMM 175 @ 2438 44gr H-Varg, Lapua or Hornady Brass, 175 SMK @ 2422 Regarding Surefire's comp on an LMT barrel, I haven't had any problems. My 20" SS is almost 2 years old, so I don't think that would be considered "early production."

    LMT .308 MWS

Here's mine in its current state. I've had it for about two years, during which time I have run it (with 16" chrome and an EOTech) in a 3-gun, brought it to a few long range classes, and shot some--for me--very good groups. It seems to do well with my 175 SMK reloads. Trigger, stock and...

    LMT MWS and heavy buffer

Prior to installing a PRS in my MWS (20"), I had Slash's heavy carbine weight and it ran great. I now have the PRS, with the heavy rifle buffer weight and have experienced no problems. In this more recent iteration, I have shot about 50 rounds of FGMM 175 suppressed with no problems...

How much water should we drink?

According to the National Academy of Sports Medicine--one of the popular personal training certification programs--an average of 96 oz of water per day is recommended. More if an individual is in hot climates, takes part in an exercise program, etc. I am no longer a personal trainer, but...

    Who here has given up....

I haven't seen anyone comment on the 55gr's ability to catch a tail wind better than the heavier rounds, and therefore increase its speed on its way to the target. That's a real thing, right? ;) I'm relatively new to shooting, and grew up in the DC area (and had limited exposure to the...

    Rifle Scopes LaRue Mount Help

I have a NF 3-15 mounted in LaRue Tac's LT158 SPR-s QD mount, and that goes on an LMT MWS. I can't recall why I initially picked it, though I think I wanted the extra 10 moa it offered. I can get beyond 1000, though I forget by how much. This is with a 100 yard zero, running 175SMKs at...

whats new and exciting in the 308 AR handguard arena?

Axeman, thanks for the measurements. Clearly, my buffer and the UBR push the weight up. I have an LMT MWS that in the same configuration as my Mega (ie no fix'ins) is 10lbs, but because of the design of the barrel, the weight sits farther toward the muzzle.

whats new and exciting in the 308 AR handguard arena?

Axeman, I'm not sure if you're still looking at different rail systems, but I have a Lancer CF on an AR15 that I like. I think the 308 versions do not have the rail strips at the 12:00--the one I have has a small piece out front for a sight (I like this even if I don't shoot irons that much)...

whats new and exciting in the 308 AR handguard arena?

Thanks for the link! I'm too embarrassed to say how many crowfoot wrenches I've bought for this project...

whats new and exciting in the 308 AR handguard arena?

Thanks for the input. If the barrel nut comes loose (again), I'll try an exta shim. (Plumbers tape is not good, right?) Even though I didn't confirm it, I'm pretty sure I torqued the nut down to within spec. But since I can't say for certain, I'll keep an eye on it as a break the rifle in.

whats new and exciting in the 308 AR handguard arena?

I recently built a Mega and went with the Wilson Combat TRIM rail. Its fit and finish was good, but the color of the black was very different than that of the Mega upper/ lower. I cerakoted it so that concern ultimately didn't matter. I also like the feel-in-hand of the rail. The mounting...

    Best Cheek Weld stock

I have a PRS on a precision AR15 which I love, but for various reasons--not all legitimate--I'm keeping the adjustable ACS stock on my precision .308 AR. But with that set-up, I can't get a firm, consistent and comfortable cheek weld. So I'm trying this the Battleline Industries stock...

LMT .308 Modular Weapon System 18" Match Grade Barrel with 1:11 Twist

I've shot both my 20" SS and my 16" CL to 1000 once. I'm getting 2605 fps with 175 SMK (and 7.62 FGMM runs about the same) out of the longer barrel. An instructor found one my SMKs from the 16"--it had destabilized, tumbled, hit the plate and bent (but was still in one piece). On another...

    Rifle Scopes Vortex AR thread

Rockhopper, I have an SPR onto which I mounted Vortex's 2.5-10 x 44 scope, with the MOA reticle/ turret. I realize it isn't exactly what you're considering, but... I haven't done any ranging with it, and it usually stays at the 10x setting, but I have found that to be enough to shoot good...
