    Internal case base separation!

I've been loading a long time and never seen anything like this.... once fired new Hornady brass in my 28 Nosler hunting rifle. I went to process the brass and felt/heard a clunking sound in the case. The video explains the rest..... anyone ever seen anything like this? I checked the rest of...

    Acceptable work or not?

6 groove barrel? Cut or button rifled? Not sure what a smith can do to "fix" anything...... if you're worried about the cut marks remember they are magnified by your bore scope...... best way to smooth them out is to just shoot it, they'll be gone in a couple hundred rounds.

    Gunsmithing Lathe selection

The difference between a new grizzley and a used lathe is that they will deliver the grizzley! You will spend many hours and perhaps have to drive many miles to find a used lathe and have to pick it up and deliver yourself.... I crossed this bridge years ago and went with the new grizzley...

Competition Dynamics, NRL Hunter, Team Match Selection help.

The CD team safari would be an excellent choice, the format is well established and you will get an excellent field match experience, especially with a partner. These are a bit dated but what you see is what you'll get..... highly reccomended...

    TL3/shouldered pre-fit issue

It sure could cause light strikes...... you could measure a fired case against the no go gauge to see how much out of spec it is..... its good it won't close in a field gauge so it's not likely to rupture a case but it will stretch the brass a bit more than it should. Don't know if this is...

Anyone getting velocity numbers like this guy in a 25 Creed

Early on I ran the 131's at 3050 using H4350 but found that load hard on brass so I've now backed down to 2,950.

Which SA bolt faces can reliably handle SRPs?

My experience is with the 6.5 SRP Lapua brass necked to .25 ..... over 5k rounds through an impact action with a couple thousand through an older defiance deviant with no issues. I've also run some through an older stiller TAC 30 with no issues so I'd think that any custom action would work...

RRS Anvil 30 for glassing and shooting?

Adding this on top if the anvil works great for glassing...... not a lot of extra weight and well worth the $$ https://www.reallyrightstuff.com/pc-lr

    loaded round chambering issue

Glad you figured it out...... it takes more chamfer than you'd think.... I've seen it many times and have been bitten myself. I now run each case through my giraud trimmer every time...... I have also really reduced my wet tumbling time, usually no more than an hour before I anneal and I use...

    loaded round chambering issue

Based on your base diameter of .468" I'd say you should be good to go and your neck diameter is fine..... my guess is still a slight peening of just the mouth of the case causing the issues.... I know you said you have chamfered the outs side neck diameter but sometimes it takes quite a bit...

    loaded round chambering issue

Never said if your wet tumbling but case mouth peennng looks like your issue...... I've seen it numerous times. Give them a generous outside neck chamfer and I bet it solves your problem. Typically if you had swelled bases you would have a hitch when you open your bolt from a fired round and...

    Autotrickler V4 vs RCBS Matchmaster

Not sure what your question is but the smaller tube running slower in shorter increments will be more accurate....... the scale needs time to react in my experience.

    Autotrickler V4 vs RCBS Matchmaster

I loaded these setting this evening and much better performance, I was messing with the wrong variables and trying to max the speed up to the target weight and not allowing the scale enough time to react to the dropping kernels...... what I noticed with both of the suggested settings in this...

    Autotrickler V4 vs RCBS Matchmaster

Thank you for sharing these settings..... they are definitely a better ballpark that what I was messing with.... I programmed each unit the same and they are a bit different but both are now <20 seconds with weights pretty consistent. I'm hoping RCBS can help fine tune them a bit more and I can...

    Autotrickler V4 vs RCBS Matchmaster

Here are the instructions...... please help me throw 42.5g H4350 consistently, preferably in less than 20 seconds but I'd guess I could settle for 30. What do I set the variables D,E,F,G,H&I to for one of the most popular match powders? There a lots of good videos online where RCBS techs show...
