Rifle Scopes Bushnell Elite Tactical SMRS 1-8.5x24mm Vs Burris XTR II 1-8x24 ?

Ilya's review is excellent as always, but I want to point out that it seems like he used it on a 5.56 rifle, which is the optimal platform for the XTR II's BDC. I wound up going with the SMRS because it's going on my Aero M5 308, and the XTR II's BDC won't work well on that according to Strelok...

Using supports/bags from the bench question

Thanks for the recommendations, folks. Sounds like I need to be thinking as much about the rear bag as the front bag! I'll try swapping things around and seeing if using it as a rear bag proves beneficial.

Using supports/bags from the bench question

Yeah, I thought about doing that. I guess I could just build something out of plywood with a grippy top and bottom surface?

Using supports/bags from the bench question

I'm a new long range shooter. I am good with the technical aspects (ballistics and dialing), but still a newb with the technique and supporting equipment stuff. I was trying out my new Caldwell Tackdriver front bag from the bench on Sunday to shoot at 200yds with my Ruger American w/ Tango6...

    MDT Oryx Chassis

I was aware of the LSS-XL Gen2; it's simply that once I put a stock on that chassis, it's like 50-100% more than the Oryx. I very much liked the idea of a spending $400 and having a usable chassis. Ah well.

    MDT Oryx Chassis

Any chance of seeing a version of the Oryx for the Ruger American AR mag rifles?

New to PRS - which rangefinder to use with Kestrel Elite

It's hard to make a recommendation without knowing what ranges you're shooting at. I have the Bushnell CON-X. I've ranged out to a bit over 850yds with it using a tripod in optimal conditions (overcast, not terribly bright outside). It did not do as well in bright sunny conditions when handheld...

    Rifle Scopes Tango6 3-18 vs Mark5 3-18

I have a Tango6 gen2 3-18x and 5-30x, and both are good to go. Glass is fine for long-range shooting on steel, which is what I use them for. Illumination is also better than the usual, and is easily visible in direct sun (wouldn't call it "bright" in those conditions, though). Turrets also seem...

Kestrel... essential or just nice to have?

All of what dthomas3523 said. I was fighting it out with a buddy just the other day about this topic - he loves his dope cards - and he just couldn't accept that maybe real life wasn't gonna work out the way he planned it out on the cards. I do think Strelok Pro + WeatherFlow is a reasonable...

    New Kestrel® HUD and Kestrel® Ballistics 2700

I received one of the pre-release 2700 units as part of a beta test today at a long-range class. I used it to shoot to about 700yds before switching back over to my 5700 for some longer stuff. The interface is pretty intuitive - I'd say moreso than the 5700 in terms of being more step-by-step...

    The Fix from Q

What's the verdict on The Fix nowadays? Looking at buying a new bolt gun, and I've always loved the concept. Has the bolt lift issue from early on been dealt with? Do they still have loose magwells causing issues with SR-25 pmags?
