    Spend my money

    build, start with Aero as others have said for upper/lower/lpk/handguard/barrel/muzzle device. I think Aero still represents a sweet spot of quality vs. price. if your budget can handle it, BCM is a great value for a really great carbine.

    Scar 17 Leupold only suggestion

    if it has to be a leupold I think HornDog has the right answer (Mk5 3.6-18), though I think there are better options at this price point until Leupold offers a better reticle for those of us that aren't fans of Horus and paying $500 for illumination.

    I will gladly have a 10 oz heavier scope and the extra $500 to $1000 compared to many competitive scopes with similar specs & pedigree. This was especially true when the R2 was the new hotness, (although the pedigree wasn't established at this time).
