Effect of primer weight on speed

Several of my shooting friends and I have experimented with neck turning and have found no difference in ES, SD's or accuracy with one exception - a bench rest barrel with a super tight neck. It would not accept even the best brass unless it was turned. Now, that barrel was an exceptional...

    Case trimmer recommendations

A friend of mine uses a Little Crow? I think that's the name. I remember it was fairly inexpensive and it does a very nice job.

    Sidearms & Scatterguns Carry Suggestions

The Shield has been a reliable, accurate and compact choice for me... And, I always preferred 1911's and full sized Glocks until I shot the Shield a bit. I feel the compacts are more practical for EDC. My .02.

H4350 vs RL16- Some Charts on Temp Stability

I've not found RL16 any worse than other powders for carbon build up/ring. I initially thought it was worse but in the last year of using it, I've grown to like it and I'm actually using it more than H4350. It gives solid SD/ES's in a wide range of temperatures and accuracy is there. I think...

How accurate have SP10 been out of the box?

My SP10 has averaged below moa and has shot many 1/2 moa or better groups also - all factory ammo. I just recently hit the 200 round point with the rifle and began load development. I'm now seeing 1/2 moa and occasionally better pretty regularly with one load I've settled on for the time...

Effect of primer weight on speed

Volume sorting brass and weight/ogive sorting bullets along with the FX for powder charging gave me some of the lowest SD/ES results I've ever gotten. SD of 3 or less and ES in single digits - SD of 1 and ES of 3 IIRC over 10 rounds - once. Accuracy improvement wasn't noticeable. No more of...

Is HBN worth the effort or is it snake oil?

I have a friend that's a very competitive BR shooter and he swore by Moly and recently HBN bullets. I saw his reloads during his new barrel load work up and the bullets looked plain so I asked him - what gives - you running naked bullets now? He said, "Yeah, I've thrown all that sh!t away"...

    Accuracy International Picture Thread

Not sure if my contact wants that released. I suppose all this means that would be a good barrel and deal? I've seen $650 at Special Purpose Rifles on line BTW but I believe they're unfinished drop ins.

    Accuracy International Picture Thread

Anyone using the Proof steel drop in barrels? Saw them advertised at $600-$650 and considering trying one out on my AX just to have a backup when the Wintac 6.5 is shot out. I've been hearing great reviews on the Proof steel (and Carbon) barrels.

    Scratched brass

+2 on the above - that's what I was referring to. Edit: I did leave one of mine where it left a very slight 1/4" long scratch mark just below the shoulder of the case. I always knew what gun that fired brass came from. It polished off during case prep but helped me sort my cases.

    Scratched brass

Proof that brass doesn't wear steel very quickly. I'd use a small stone but I know a lot of guys use a Dremel with a polishing tip. With a stone, I feel that I can better control it and only take off the burr and no extra metal. A couple of careful strokes with low grit stone and your done...

    Rifle Scopes ATACR Reticle Choice

I have all 3 and they all work just fine. The Mil-C had kinda become my favorite but probably because I used it a bit more than the others. The Mil-R was my favorite before that and the XT may become my favorite after my match this weekend - I'll be using it exclusively and have found it to be...

Atlas or Harris Bipod for Large frame AR: Pros and Cons of Each

Both the TB and Atlas are more stable. When shooting them back to back with my friend's Harris, I found a bit more wobble when leaning on the Harris. Not horrid by any means but definitely noticeable. Enough that my friend ordered the TB that night. He liked the quick deploying legs on the...

Atlas or Harris Bipod for Large frame AR: Pros and Cons of Each

The Atlas is definitely a step up from the Harris. I've switched between the Atlas and Thunder Beast on my MWS and find both to be great choices.

    Accuracy International Bore Guide

The Lucas snaps into place and will not move around. Mike makes the best bore guides available - I have one for each of my rifles and sized for the specific cleaning rod I use.

    Wet tumbling

I switched to wet tumbling a couple of years ago and have been very happy with the results. Case mouth peening is not a factor if you limit the tumble time to about 1 and 1/2 hours and some Carbon remains inside the neck. I chamfer and dip the base of the bullet in some Graphite neck lube. I...

    RCBS Match Master Dispenser

Are any F class shooters using a Chargemaster? I don't personally know any that are but I'm curious. I know the BR crowd used to volume drop but I don't think that's happening much anymore. I've got the FX and CM but dont use the CM anymore except to set a rough charge weight. It served me...

Tubb TBN Bullet Coating Does It Work For You?

A friend of mine switched from Moly to HBN about 4 years ago. He ended up back with Moly within a year. He recently got 2 new barrels for his competition rifles and I noticed he was shooting bare bullets doing load development. I asked him what was going on and he said he had thrown all that...
