    Zeiss S3 vs S&B PMll 6-36

I am on the hunt for a nice scope for my Vudoo. I am going to use it for rimfire precision shooting, basically any matches in the northeast I can get to. I have kind of focused my sights on the following: Zeiss S3 4-24, Zeiss S3 6-36, and the S&B PMll 6-36 High Power. I am looking for thoughts...

.308 Hard Bolt Lift with hand loads--McMillan TAC 308

What you have described is ammo that is too hot. Do you see any damage on the brass (torn extractor groove, blown primers or leakage around the primer)? Back off a couple of grains and see what you get.

    questions about SBRs

When I built my SBRs, I sent a letter with my form explaining that the rifle would have various calibers and barrel lengths. I added this letter after talking to my examiner at the ATF.

    How to learn precision shooting?

Because shooting from a bipod introduces another needed skill set you have to layer on all the others.

    How to learn precision shooting?

[If you want a good crash course in marksmanship, go see a Marine Corps recruiter.] +1 And still lots of practical experience after your initial training. Another option for some intensive training would be to talk to a Navy recruiter about SEALs. Mike

    Best Muzzle brake for 308

Supposidly Knight's new one is good, but very $$$. The Surefire SFMB762 is working well for me. Mike

LaRue now making their own barrels

An interest free loan? How about a bunch of folks got the gun before their state passed laws prohibiting future purchases? You didn't ask me, but I'll tell you anyhow. I'm one of those guys. Without his shipping the lowers out to us, I would have SOL. Connecticut passed the law such that it...

    Reloading Help Needed

Follow Up: I'm going back to the range with some factory 175 Federal Gold Medal. Got to convince myself it's not the gun. Thanks for all the comments.

    Reloading Help Needed

OK, so the gun is an older 20" Knight SR-25 with a 11.25" twist. Cases are LC, gentle prepping (trimmed, flash hole debured, shoulder bumped .003" in a Redding Full Length sizing die). Primers seated with a Sinclair priming tool. Powder is VV N540, primers are Standard Remington. Bullet is a...

    CFE223 in 308 help

46.2 of CFE223 in LC brass under a 180 SMK does ~2700. Shoots consistently less than .75" @ 100 ds. No serious pressure signs. YMMV

    Reloading 75 and 77gr for 1/7 twist 16" DD

Dillon Super Swage thingy I got one of these off Ebay and the previous owner had modded it so when you lowrerd the handle it lowered the case and raised it when the handle was returned to the upright position. Makes using it much faster. Mike

    Favorite long range 308 bullet

180 gr SMK (the AMU bullet, not the current offering). I have ~12K of them so I'm good for a while. If not them, the 175 SMKs would be a fine substitute for my gas gun.

    175 vs 180 Sierra MK's

180gr SMKs I scored a bunch of them (~12K) and am working up a good high speed load that groups well but doesn't eject the brass out in pieces ;>0 If only I could find out what the BC of them is. Seirra folks I talked to do not know. Mike

    Favorite Bi-Pod

Another vote for the Atlas Bipod / Accu-Shot Monopod Combo. Probably as good as it gets.

    260 barrel

Barrels I would suggest having these guys turn yours down. You can also have it fluted, threaded, finished, etc. I have no connection with them except as a satisfied customer. Most work gets a quick turnover. Shop/Machine Services at Adco Firearms Mike

    Help with headspace measurement

I'm not sure why this is so complicated.. Shoot 5 factory rounds througn the gun. Use a bump gauge and measure the empties (average). Now size the brass to bump the shoulder back to between .001" to .002" for bolt action rifles and between .003" and .005" for AR15 type rifles. Easy as pie...
