    Tikka T3 Thread

    IIRC, there’s also a magazine retainer spring installed under the trigger screw on the non CTR/TAC models. You’ll need to remove that to use the CTR bottom metal and magazines. And then reinstall if you switch back and forth.

    I’ve seen those mentioned, but couldn’t find them. Best I could tell, they’re out of business. X-Caliber makes a similar tool (BART) that they list for the enhanced uppers (M4E1 and M5E1), but I’m not super confident that I wouldn’t screw it up.

    Not to hijack the thread, but does anyone know of a smith that does the above work (specifically face truing) on the Aero Enhanced (integral barrel nut) uppers? I contacted D. Wilson who said he’s never trued one and didn’t think it could be done. I’ve seen posts that suggest Bexar Arms does...

    PSA PA10 (308) Experiment

    My dad bought a basic PA10 around the time I built up 308 on an Aero M5 set. He had issues with it initially, but eventually got it all worked out. It was a few years ago, so unfortunately I don’t remember exactly what the issues were, but I’d say it’s definitely possible to get one running.

    My first was a M695 in 7mm Rem Mag. Excellent shooter. Have another 3-4 T3/T3Xs between my dad and myself. A couple of lites and a CTR. 6.5CM, .308, etc. All shooters. Honestly, you can’t go wrong with a Tikka.

    This is what I did. My 24” CTR shoots lights out with 5-6 different kinds of factory ammo from 130gr - 147gr. Had fun plinking at 1000yds. If you don’t like the stock (I don’t mind it) you can always drop it into a Bravo or other chassis and end up at the same $$ as a Tac A1.

    I have a 24” stainless CTR. I got around 2710 with the Federal Gold Medal Berger 130gr. Prime 130gr, on the other hand, ran at 2900.

I tried Prime 130gr, Federal Gold Medal Berger 130gr, Hornady 140gr & 147gr ELDM, Hornady 140gr American Gunner/Black, and some conservative handloads with Nosler 140gr RDF. It shot all of them well, except the RDF, but i didn’t even try to work up a good load...

    What I did is to remove all the screws except the mirage band screw (the one at the front of the rail), then actually tighten that one. It’s not threaded into the receiver like the others, so it will help pry the front of the rail against the action. That should get you started, then you can...

    I think I’ve read that the CTR barrel is pretty similar to a Light Palma, but others may have a better answer.
