Rifle Scopes 2k to spend for glass

Bushnell XRS 2 4.5-30. I have been using these for PRS the last two years or so and they are rock solid optics. I stay at 15-18x most the positional stages and 20-22x for prone. But occasionally do enjoy the 25-28x range refining a wind call. I have been extremely pleased with my Bushnell XRS...

Rifle Scopes Bushnell Forge or Athlon Ares?

Advanced Marksmanship Rifle Position in the Shoulder Pocket

Had an interesting trip to the range today at Frontline Defense here in North Carolina. I was just checking my zero prior to truing some new projectiles in a new barrel. What happened next was frustrating and insightful at the same time. I'm a bigger guy than most and getting down on the bench...

PRS Talk Can we talk about the AG Cup?

Anything Tom Fuller does is done right. That's just who he is, and what Armageddon Gear as a company is known for. Aside from that, he is just a hell of a nice guy. He could make a living selling shit flavored snow cones. As for the AG Cup not effectively bringing in new shooters and growing...

Advanced Marksmanship Rifle Position in the Shoulder Pocket

Your physique and rifle setup will vary from others. Post a picture perhaps. But if you are square to the rifle, and pad is on the collar bone, then your rifle is very close to your centerline. Assuming this, by all indications you should find good recoil management and improved ability to...

Comparing reloading die sets.....RCBS vs. Redding

For 45-70 go rcbs. I have that caliber and a dozen others in rcbs dies, they are great dies and affordable. For precision rifle, I prefer Redding type S full sizing bushing dies with the Redding micrometer seating die. They are superb. OTM tactical usually has several sets for popular calibers...

    Binocular recommendation

For sure, a great bargain. I looked through everything, Canon IS 10x, Swarovski, etc, superb optics no doubt. But the Bushnell are much closer in clarity, brightness, than most folks would think considering they are a fraction of the price.

Bushnell Elite Tactical LMSS 8-40x60 Spotting Scope what are your thoughts?

I used mine for two years at PRS matches. Fantastic spotting scope, great build quality, very durable. I have enjoyed my Bushnell Forge 10x binos more recently, less eye fatigue. But the spotter was better on the 700-1000 yard areas. But most the targets I'm shooting at not that far so the binos...

    Binocular recommendation

My suggestion as well, I have used the Bushnell Forge 10x most this past year for PRS matches. Superb binos at a very attractive price. I may pick up the forge 15x at some point also, for spotting misses/dust past 800 yards. But as most PRS targets are 300-700 yards, my 10x have been quite...

Advanced Marksmanship Rifle Position in the Shoulder Pocket

Along with mounting on collar bone, I focused more than in past on ensuring my shoulders were square to Target. In an effort to improve my natural point of aim, which is improving as a result. These changes to my fundamentals, which were admittingly poor, meant my old gun fit had optic too far...

Advanced Marksmanship Rifle Position in the Shoulder Pocket

Adjusted my gun fit also. Which was simple, and similar to what you described. No more goose necking, lol. I have never been so comfortable behind my rifles. And spotting my shots was biggest reason for the change, which was greatly effective towards realizing this goal. Dan NC

how to play the long game

I've shot long distance a fair bit with 223, stay off YouTube is my advice. I agree with Greg above about 600-800 being good near max (regular hits) with 223. I have had several hits at 1000-1100 in matches, but wind blows and I'm dead. Got a 223 trainer, MPA chassis, kelbly tactical Atlas, 25"...

    highest quality hearing protection?

I had the etymotics, good ear pro for the price. But this year upgraded, in considerable way, to Wild Ear. Best I have used by far. Comfortable all day at a match, I can hear everything. Dan NC

    Harbor Freight Pelican Case Alternative

Call Brack at Patriot Cases in NC. He can custom make you a high quality case at a very reasonable price. I had two made last year for travel to PRS/NRL matches. Top shelf experience in every way. Dan NC

    Pelican Case Dealer onboard

Call Brack at Patriot Cases in NC. Highest quality cases I have seen, he carries several lines of shells, and custom cuts high density foam. I got two last year for driving and flying to PRS/NRL matches. Top shelf cases. Dan NC

    Tripod tape

Coban is useful to have, I put it on bell of my optic. But for tripod I used tennis racket grip tape, Amazon. Rubbery, tacky, and bright colors available to identify your tripod in a crowd at matches. Works great, had it on for 4-5 months now. PM if you need specific item, I can dig it up on...

Advanced Marksmanship Rifle Position in the Shoulder Pocket

Butt pad is positioned much like the still image of Phillip Velayo above. My butt pad is perhaps higher on the collar bone to get the rifle up to my eye, I'm a bigger guy. But yes, the butt is directly on the collar bone. Best tip I ever got, truly. Dan

Atlas PSR tension knob loosens, any suggestions?

I mostly use Harris, but last few weeks have been trying a Atlas PSR I bought last year. Frequently, the tension knob is coming loose while shooting, happened twice at match Sunday. Had same issue with this bipod last year when I first bought it and...

    6mm BR Lapua Brass dies

Redding Type S full size bushing kit with competition inline seater. Bought mine from OTM Tactical, which is good about keeping several calibers in stock, and they ship fast.

Mini review of Precision Underground Comp bag (pics)..

Based on my time with the comp bag I agree. I want as much surface of my rifle on the grippy rubber as possible.
