    2 Questions

Can't help you with #1, as I only have the large primer pocketed 308 brass here. For #2, you'll usually find a low velocity node and a higher velocity node, if you fiddle around enough. Which works best for you, I can't say. Chris

    A little guidance: Case trimmers

I've used a Lyman Universal Chuck lathe type trimmer with their power drill adapter bar for 19 years and it's fine. There are people who have had problems with the Lyman trimmer, but it keeps on a trimming and I'm still using the original two cutting heads. For me (and I load 14 different...

    185gr or 200gr bullets in a .338 LM?

I've shot 180gr and 200gr Nosler BTs and 225gr Hornady SSTs, IIRC and ehhh...IMO, it's a waste unless you hunt. If you have them and want to spend some time working up loads, or you're doing LR hunting, knock yourself out. I think I've loaded up 20 ct boxes of all three and stopped there. Chris

    7mm Rem Mag Velocity Help

I'm looking at my Sierra V manual and with their 168gr SMK, H-4831sc @ 64.7gr, OAL: 3.260" and Federal 215, they're showing 3000 fps out of a 26" Savage 116, so something is way off with your scale, or your chrono. Sierra is a conservative manual, to boot. Just as an aside, with my 26"...

300 WIN MAG? 300 Norma MAG? 338 Norma Mag? 338 Lapua

Back in '05, I decided on the 338LM just because it was novel and I could reload it for cheap. I ended up getting mine in Feb. of '06 and there weren't many people shooting it here, so it had that going for it. Now, all of you peasants and your grandmothers are shooting the 338LM, so it...

    What Powders for 260 Rem????

AA-4350 is very, very close to H-4350 in the 260 Rem., but it's a long stick powder that doesn't meter all that well. You might that it's a bit cheaper, as well. Chris

Changing from H4350 to IMR 4350

I've used AA-4350 a lot in the 260 Rem and it's pretty close to what I get with H-4350 and works well as a substitute, except for it's a very long stick, so it meters 'not so great.' It should be cheaper, however, if you can find it. Chris

    Nosler Brass 338 Lapua?

Shoot it and see, that's the only way to know. Nosler brass, over the years, has been iffy despite all of the prep work being done before hand. Lapua brass, for 338LM is pretty pimpy. I'm on about 12-13 cycles with my stuff, going back a ways. Chris

    7mm rem mag load data?

That batch was probably 10+ years old and had been fired 5-6 times, mostly neck sized. Generally, we don't get tons of cycles out of 7RM brass and 308 Win lifespans aren't to be expected. Out of 25 cases in that batch, half were fine, but I pitched them all. Chris

    7mm rem mag load data?

For 7RM, it's been FC, RP and Win. But be careful... Chris

    7mm rem mag load data?

Well, not exactly on point, but I shoot a 26" Sendero v.1 in 7RM and was doing some long range loads with some 150s and then some H-162gr National Match and 168 SMKs in early '09. 60.5grs grs RL-19, 162gr Hornady HPBT NM, Win. LRM: 10/10 shots: Avg: 2713 fps, SD: 32.1 63.0grs RL-19...

    IVI 308 Canadian Brass

IVI is .mil brass, no? A 7-8% reduction in charge is probably a good way to go, for starters, so you're close. Chris

    Dillon 550 rifle reloading

You don't bell the mouths of rifle cases, generally speaking. After you trim them, if needed, campher the mouths a little bit and hold the bullet gently over the mouth and raise the ram slowly, to get things started. You should have no problem seating FB bullets this way. Mistakes happen to...

    Worst company for reloaders!!

I've never heard of them, so maybe that's the problem? Stick with the big boys and good luck with your order. Chris

Redding Bullet Seating Micrometer for VLD Bullets

I don't think that the ring is a major problem aerodynamic problem, only an aesthetic one. A bona fide problem might be when you get no ring around the nose. If you take the stem/plug out and find that the nose of the bullet bottoms out on the top of the plug and no part of the plug's mouth...

    Dillon 550B Question

Loading accurate ammo on any press type is in the details. Most rifle ammo loaded on a progressive press is done so 'semi-progressively'. We have to deprime and size cases, remove the lube and then see if those cases need to be trimmed and trim them if necessary. One 'stage,' so to speak...
