Playing with Quick load tonight and the velocities are interesting to say the least.

Thinking about throwing a few Nosler Accubonds at 3300fps for fun.

Anybody doing this for the hell of it?

Hornady 185gr. GMX IMR4831 (still work in progress)
Hornady 200gr. SP. IMR 4831 90gr.

Rifle: Sako TRG 42 .338 Lapua 27 1/2" barrel 12" twist

The only people I've know who shoot those lighter bullets are hunters. Even though they're going faster, they lack the inertia to go the distance because they have significantly less mass. Still, if you wanted a very flat cartridge for shooting out to 1000m, they wouldn't be such a bad idea.

I've shot 180gr and 200gr Nosler BTs and 225gr Hornady SSTs, IIRC and ehhh...IMO, it's a waste unless you hunt.

If you have them and want to spend some time working up loads, or you're doing LR hunting, knock yourself out. I think I've loaded up 20 ct boxes of all three and stopped there.
