    A question as to benefits of threading the action on the 457. Would doing so be of any "real" benefit or just a solution to a non existent (perceived/possible) problem of loose fitment or stress induced by the grubb screws....?

    Agreed. The only major thing, IMO, that the 2 stage would benefit ME is shooting Smallbore Silhouette where the rules book calls for a 2# minimum on trigger pull. A heavier first stage with a light 2nd stage helps you at the line. I have my 457 trigger at ~8oz and it is nice and smooth.

    Anyone know what the lock time is for a 457. Came up in a conversation today with a friend "stating" that the lock time in the 457 action is faster than any of the R700 style actions. I am thinking he knows not what of he speaks but have no data to support his - or my thoughts. Anyone?

    Yes Sir. 50/50 vinegar/hydrogen peroxide will also de-rust ... and de-blue a gun pretty effectively. At least now you don't have to worry about the finish being affected if it is already damaged.

    Try Bore Tech C4 Carbon Remover Bore Cleaning Solvent Liquid Midway has it.... Set the gun upside down in a cap or something deep enough o cover the carboned up area. It's not instant but it works.

    Oops. Did not realize the SWFA 3-15 SFP was out of the price range you specified.... Perhaps a Vortex or Athlon and a set of Med 11 mm rings - for whatever tube diameter you end up with.. You might look in the Scope Forum here....or just go to Midway and look to see whats in your price range...
