    Yeah I’ve heard lots of guys say once the target grows hair it’s harder to hit. But shooting is shooting, and in my experience with elk making the shot is usually the easiest part. We need more info from OP in order to offer any more advice

    I use a SAKO Finnlight in 300WSM. Weighs under 8lbs with scope & ammo. In Colorado be ready for a shot from 30yds to 800yds. Spotting scope might be more important than rifle.
