Besides MPA - are there any other reputable manufacturers of Valkyrie bolt action rifles. I see references here that some shooters are building their own with what looks like high quality parts. Is that the way to go? My problem is that i have never built a bolt action gun and wouldn't describe myself as particularly adept at that sort of thing.

I heard Savage is coming out with a 224 bolt some time this summer, but that pales in comparison to the MPA. Not knowing your budget, I would send out a few feelers to some reputable smiths on here. Tell them what you want and find out their pricing and lead times. From what I'm seeing a lot of folks are going with the Bighorn Origin action or the Nucleus to cut cost.

There is also the BA (Barreled Action) route. Call up Patriot Valley Arms or Keystone Accuracy, and drop one of their BA's into a stock/chassis of your choice.

I am considering another .22 caliber shooting heavies in the future. I understand the benefit in an AR, but I am wondering what the benefits of the Valkyrie over a 22 CM, 22x47L, 22-250 and maybe a .223 AI or 22 LBC. Powder burnt?....Factory ammo? I ain't hating and have never shot one in bolt or AR. I am just trying to gather some real world info.

In order to test some AICS pattern 224V prototype metal mags that MDT sent me, Im putting together a 224V bolt gun to shoot heavies. I just placed an order with Manson for a custom 224V bolt gun reamer to my spec. Its based off the 88 ELD-M for max case capacity and a slightly tighter neck. It has .110 FB and a .257 neck (loaded neck diameter with Starline brass and 88ELD .253) and 1.5 degree lead angle.

The .110 FB puts the 88 ELD-M boat tail/bearing surface junction just below the neck/shoulder junction of the case for max case capacity. Going to chamber a 26" barrel for my Origin to test. COAL for this dummy round is 2.42" and max internal COAL of the MDT prototype mag is 2.58"

Keystone Accuracy will be doing the barrel work. Looking forward to testing this out.

MileHigh makes them, just last night I saw a video with our very own @Lowlight took the Valkyrie to 2112, with first 3 round hits. Found the video on YouTube under SHLowlight.
