    I shoot a TRG22-308/20". Twice I have taken it to 1300 yards, both times with 178 gr Hornady BTHP's over varget. Muzzle velocity was 2615fps. Both times I was able to get consistant hits on 2'x2' steel, and the bullets arrived point first. "Shooter App" says that it went subsonic at 1230...

    I have both a 10x and 12x SS....I prefer getting behind the 10x.....its hard to describe why, but the 10x is easier to get the parallex adjusted, and much easier to get edge to edge clarity on....

    I'm very pleased with the Bushnell ET 1-6.5/FFP/BTR2. True 1x, illuminated horseshoe-dot reticle, with a Mil based vertical post with 10 mils in the reticle. I've used it to on steel 800 yards with my SPRish 5.56. Great scope!

    Do yourself a favor and get familiar with a TRG22 before you spend a lot of time and treasure building a custom .308.

    Hornady 178 BTHP, Has any one had any success with these?

    On Rob's recommendation, I gave them a try, and haven't looked back. Lapua brass, Fed primers, 44.3 grs of Varget. I am able to load long in my TRG mags, and seat them .020" off the lands. I've shoot them out to 1300 yards, and been VERY happy with the performance.

    I've shot handloads with 155 Scenars, AMAX and SMK( Palma). I've shot factory 168, 175, and 178 grain match loads. Everything arrived point first, and I shot both with and without a suppressor. I got excessive pressure signs with everything except subsonic loads.
