    Gunsmithing Looking for a barrel?

Most any shop will be running between $250 and $350 then any finish beyond bead blasting will likely be $100-$250 more depending on the finish. Your stock will also need to have the barrel channel opened up most likely or if the forend isn't big enough you may be looking at a new stock.

Hunting & Fishing White tail round=to many options ugh

Just about anything your rifle throws reasonably well will do just fine. With the low velocities of the 308 and as soft of a target as deer and antelope are it really doesn't make a difference. Anything outside of a FMJ will be just fine.

    Stiller Spectre

I've built on several Tac 30's and they all shot great. I have a Spectre sitting in the safe now to do a future build on. The only functional difference I note between them is the Integral rail on the Spectre. I expect it to do as well as any of the other Stiller actions I' have.

Gunsmithing Magwell and main spring housing installation on 1911

I've got these on a coupe of my own and installed them on several for others. One thing I would recommend doing is to blend the inside of the mag well with your frame. Just makes a smoother, and cleaner looking transition. It can be done with a file, or as I did them with a milling machine.

Contact info for Jeromy Holmes AKA Dimensions

Had Jeromy do some paint for me a couple years ago, and I'd like to contact him about possibly having some more done. Last I knew he was in St. George UT just down the road from me. If anyone knows how to contact him I'd appreciate it. I know he hasn't been on here in a couple months.

Anyone seating with an arbor press?

Measuring the amount of force used to seat the bullet is just another way to confirm consistent neck tension. When you seat one and it goes high or low on the force gage you can eliminate that round from those that would be used in your shots for record. It's not making any individual round...

    Gunsmithing help with a build

It won't save you any cost for work by the smith. Depending on the truing method used in each case the diameter of the threads may or may not be the same. He will be having to match up to someone elses threading and chambering work which may or may not be held to the same tolerances, and takes...

need help with bolt action scope mount

Either will work fine. I do use a 1 piece base whenever one is available for a given action. Most of the time you will see 2 separate rings used from the base to the scope. This is for a couple reasons. First you can get a set of high quality rings for about 1/3 the cost of a single piece...

    Stock flex. Big concern?

As long as the barrel isn't hitting against the stock it shouldn't be an issue.

Advice from our gunsmiths out there

I personaly won't bother with another prechambered barrel. They were more of a hassle than they were worth. I either cut the entire chamber or none of it.

    Caliber / Velocity restrictions

I know over the past couple years most matches have been putting restrictions of caliber and or velocity in place to protect the targets. Which is more common to see in place, particularly in the UT, AZ, NV reigon, a speed limit of I'm assuming 3000 fps, or a caliber restriction of no larger...

Barrel contour help please! 223 AI

The rifle that sees the most use from me has a #4 Bartlein on it. 25" long measured from the bolt face, and measures .750 at the muzzle. Balances great, and overall weight is about perfect at 10# ready to run.
